Stick molding

Stick Technology. Cosmetic sticks can be divided into three categories sticks molded in the container sticks molded separately and then encased and sticks formed by compression. [Pg.294]

Eyebrow pencils are used to outline the brow, especially after plucking of undesirable fibers. They are conunonly prepared by stick molding. Eyebrow pencils are generally harder than eyeliner pencils. Like other pencils, the extruded mass is normally encased in wood. Some eyebrow pencils may be quite soft, approaching the textore of lipsticks. [Pg.47]

Lubricants. Process aids or lubricants promote smooth and rapid extmsion and calendering, prevent sticking to extmders or calender roUs, and impart good release properties to molding compounds. In some cases use of lubricants allow slightly lower processing temperatures (see Vinyl polymers). [Pg.327]

Rubber. A thin coating of mica acts as a mold-release compound in the priming of mbber goods such as tires. It prevents the migration of sulfur from the tire to the air bag when the tire is being vulcani2ed (see Tire cords). Mica is also dusted on mbber inner tubes to prevent sticking. [Pg.291]

Container Molding. Antiperspirant, deodorant, sunscreen, and antiacne sticks are container molded. The amount of dispersed ingredients makes them brittle and difficult to handle mechanically. [Pg.294]

Most antiperspirant sticks are molded. Sticks dominate in the U.S. market, whereas lotion and cream antiperspirants are preferred in Europe. Stick antiperspirant products may include suspending agents, coupling agents to wet the antiperspirant chemical (about 20—25%), and emoUients. The blend is prepared at about 65°C and poured at about 55°C. Antiperspirant (64) and deodorant (65) compositions have been pubHshed. [Pg.299]

Coating a mandrel or mold with a material that prevents the finished product from sticking to it. [Pg.131]

Quadraxially oriented (four directional layer) glass fabric-TS vinyl ester polyester RP sheet panels with a foam core and gel coating are used. Most of the panels are 3 mm thick with molded-in rib structure supports. Body skins are bonded to the chassis with a double-stick acrylic tape developed by 3M Co. as well as mechanical fasteners. Unlike most steel designs, no B-pillar structural component between the front and rear doors is required thus providing more interior space and easy entry since doors open in opposite directions. [Pg.255]
