Eyebrow pencils

Products such as aftershave lotions, hair tonics, and soaps contain additives purely for esthetic reasons. In many cases, though, the colorant is a significant functional part of a cosmetic, often comprising half of its total weight. Some cosmetics, including eyebrow pencils, nail poHshes, and rouges, are really Httie more than colorants mixed with one or more materials that serve simply as binders, vehicles, or diluents to give the product desirable appHcation properties (29,36-40). 

Ultramarine Blue is used in salt iatended for animal feed (<0.5% w/w). AH ultramarines are used in the cosmetic field in such products as mascara, eyebrow pencils, and soaps. 

Eyebrow pencils are used to outline the brow, especially after plucking of undesirable fibers. They are commonly prepared by stick mol ding. Eyebrow pencils are generally harder than eyeliner pencils. Like other pencils, the extmded mass is normally encased in wood. Some eyebrow pencils may be quite soft, approaching the texture of hpsticks. 

Waxes are used in water-resistant coating on cars and furniture. They are also used in lipsticks and eyebrow pencils and in liquid soaps and shampoos to give a pearlescent effect (the tiny flakes of the wax glycol distearate reflect the light). 

These help keep fatty flavors suspended in the liquid (density balancers and emulsifiers). Gums and modified food starches are also used for this purpose. Glyceryl abietate is also used in cosmetics as the waxy substance in eyebrow pencils. 

Name from anti monos (Greek = not alone) stibium (Latin = pen) black shiny antimonite/stibnite (Sb2S3) was used as an eyebrow pencil...

Also for coatings, toiletries, lubricating material, masticatory (chewing) substance, food... 

Another very interesting application of this increased chemical activity of aluminium when amalgamated with mercury is incorporated in a toy which is sometimes seen on sale under the name of" Daddy Tin Whiskers . This toy consists of an aluminium stamping of a face and a pencil, the core of which is filled with a preparation chiefly composed of a mercury salt. It is operated by rubbing the eyebrows and chin with this special pencil. Shortly afterwards white hairs of aluminium oxide (AlsOj) gather wherever the pencil has touched the aluminium.
