Steel material

The injection mol ding process eliminates the restriction of straight-sided components required when parts are ejected from a die, and offers opportunities for external undercuts and threads. A wide variety of alloys can be processed, including alloy steels and stainless steels. Material properties of injection molded parts are available (32). [Pg.185]

The frame plates are typically epoxy-painted carbon-steel material and can be designed per most pressure vessel codes. Design limitations are in the Table 11-18. The channel plates are always an alloy material with 304SS as a minimum (see Table 11-18 for other materi s). [Pg.1082]

Anodic protection allows the use of materials under unfavorable conditions if they are also passivatable in sulfuric acid. CrNi steels [material Nos. 1.4541 (AISI 321) and 1.4571 (AISI 316 Ti)] can be used in handling sulfuric acid of 93 to 99% at temperatures up to 160°C. This enables a temperature of 120 to 160°C to be reached, which is very suitable for heat recovery. [Pg.478]

Two heat exchangers, each 1.2 m in diameter and 9 m in length, with 1500 heat exchanger tubes of stainless CrNiMo steel [material No. 1.4571 (AISI 316 Ti)] were subjected to 98 to 99% sulfuric acid. The flow rate around the tubes was... [Pg.478]

The thrust disk consists of solid steel material with a linear speed of 160 m/sec (528 fps) at the outside diameter. This compares with a maximum allowable peripheral speed of 400 m/sec (1,320 fps) and eliminates the necessity for the thrust disk to be laminated. Because... [Pg.458]

Reservoir. Retention time should be 5-8 minutes. Stainless steel material is recommended. [Pg.450]

For sour service, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) MR-01-75 requires that steel material have a Rockwell C hardness of less than 22 and contain less than 1% nickel to prevent sulfide stress cracking. [Pg.448]

The vessel is determined to be an uninsulated, horizontal, grade-level, cylindrical pressure vessel with a gas volume of 706 ft3 (20 m3). The vessel has a MAWP of 1,480 psig (102 bar) at 650°F (343°C) and a Minimum Design Metal Temperature (MDMT) of 40°F (4°C) since it is constructed of unnormalized steel material. Due to process conditions immediately prior to pressuring the vessel to 1,000 psig (69 bar), the vessel s metal temperature is approximately 30°F (-1°C). When the vessel is pressurized to 1,000 psig, it fails catastrophically. The distances to overpressure endpoints (1, 3, and 5 psig) are calculated as follows ... [Pg.123]

Storage stability Prior to use, systems to contain nitric oxide must first be purged with an inert gas. Where air contamination cannot be eliminated, stainless steel materials should be used. [Pg.64]

This site coats cold rolled steel and galvanized steel. The data presented are the analyses of the effluent from the cold rolled steel operations. Approximately 11 million m2 of steel material are cleaned, coated and painted annually in the U.S. The plant uses water at a rate of 1.2 L/m2 of product and produces 1630 m2/h of coated steel coil. [Pg.277]

The chloride content of liquids used to test austenitic stainless steel materials shall not exceed 50 parts per million. To prevent deposition of chlorides as a result of evaporative drying, all residual hquid shall be removed from tested parts at the conclusion of the test. [Pg.53]

Any carbon steel material may be used to a minimum temperature of —29°C (—20°F) for Category D Fluid Service. [Pg.129]

Non-metallic wear part materials, which are proven to be compatible with the specified process fluid, may be proposed within the above limits. See 5.7.4.C. Such materials may be selected as wear components to be mated against a suitably selected metallic component such as hardened 12 % Cr steel or hardfaced austenitic stainless steel. Materials may be used beyond these limits if proven application experience can be provided, and if approved by the purchaser. ... [Pg.151]

Clean steam systems are normally constructed of nonrusting (stainless steel) materials and typically use either distilled or deionized water as feed water no additives are allowed to be used due to contact with products. [Pg.230]

Drilled samples, 200-1000 fig and sealed in pure quartz vials, are activated and analyzed in a similar way for silver, copper, and gold content. Drill bits of tungsten carbide and stainless steel, materials much harder than silver, were used in taking samples. Since no significant differences in concentrations of the major elements of the drill bit materials could be found in samples taken with either of them, possible contamination by the drill bits can be neglected. [Pg.32]
