At a minimum, the method will be tested in one FDA laboratory and two contract laboratories selected by the sponsor. If the method is for a new animal drug in tissue regulated by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as part of the meat inspection program, a Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS)/USDA laboratory will be included if sufficient resources are available. The acid filtrate is treated with excess of ammonium chloride and with ammonia to precipitate the ferric oxide and any alumina, the precipitate being tested for the latter in the usual way. Hydrocarbon oxidation on base metal catalysts is also susceptible to lead poisoning, especially if the catalysts are exposed to relatively high temperatures, for at least part of their service time. It was noted above that lead retention, especially on base metal catalysts, also increases with temperature up to a certain point. This behavior is shown by the results of Yao and Kummer (81) in Fig. 18. One should note that the hydrocarbon used for testing catalyst activity, namely propylene, was quite reactive. With a less reactive test hydrocarbon one could expect a still sharper effect. The comparison with a reference production noble metal catalyst, given in Fig. 18, is quite instructive. [Pg.344]

A total of thirteen ECs were prepared. Four ECs were used as controls, i.e., no electrical current was applied. One column was designed so that in-situ Eh-pH conditions could be monitored, while the remaining ECs were part of the experiments designed to model the electrosmotic transport of TCE as a function of time. In these experiments, soil columns were subjected to EO for a period of time ranging from one to four weeks. Three columns (two test and one control) were dissected weekly, sampled and TCE concentrations measured. In this way, profiles of TCE concentration were collected as a function of distance from the anode and as a function of time. If flexural stresses are expected in service, then a flexural test is one that should be performed as part of the test suite. The capacity of the system needs to be tested in a way that reflects on the way the system will be used, and there are several approaches to take. For example, if there is a 30-user license, one of the simplest ways of assessing the capacity is to run all systems simultaneously. Preparation of the Test Papers. One part of starch is boiled with loo parts of water and the solution filtered. To the filtrate 5 parts of potassium iodide are added and the strips of filter paper are immersed in this. They are then allowed to dry in the air and kept in a closed vessel. The period during which they may be stored depends upon the method by which they have been prepared and the care with which they have been stored.
