The second stage was a statistical analysis of the data available from the NGSDC database and several other smaller databases to extract the frequency-magnitude (f-M) relations for earthquakes originating in widely different regions of the earth. [Pg.189]

In order to reduce unnecessary data queries, the statistics group should be consulted early in the clinical database development process to identify variables critical for data analysis. Optimally, the statistical analysis plan would already be written by the time of database development so that the queries could be designed based on the critical variables indicated in the analysis plan. The US-EPA Consolidated Human Activity Database (CHAD) (US-EPA 2007b) contains data obtained from preexisting human activity studies that were collected at city, state, and national levels. CHAD is intended to be an input file for exposure/intake dose modeling and/or statistical analysis. Unfortunately, most of these tools are extremely expensive, and are fairly complex to deploy, requiring a database backend for alert storage.
