Sprague, Charles

Adult, male, Sprague-Dawley rats obtained from Charles River Labs and weighing 200-250 gm on arrival were used. Throughout the study, the rats were housed individually, with water freely available. Purina Rat Chow was fed after each experimental session and on weekends, in quantities adjusted to maintain the rats between 270 and 350 gm throughout the experiment. [Pg.149]

Animal strain Sprague-Dawley (Crl CD, (SD) IGS BR) from Charles River Laboratories, Kingston/Raleigh, NC. [Pg.424]

Animals Male, Sprague-Dawley rats (COBS-CD strain) were purchased at five weeks of age from Charles River Breeding Laboratories, Wilmington, MA. The animals were maintained for two weeks on Rat Chow (Purina Lab Chow, Ralston Purina Company, St. Louis, MO). Following the two-week pretreatment, the animals were weighed and distributed into treatment groups as described in Table I. [Pg.468]

The two most common species used in subchronic toxicology studies are the rat and the dog. The most common strain of rat used within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries is the Charles River CD rat, which is Sprague-Dawley derived and an outbred strain. Some companies use... [Pg.38]

Animal Studies. Normal male Sprague-Dawley rats (Charles River Labs, South Wilmington, Massachusetts), ranging in wei t from 250 to 450 g were used for all in vivo studies. For injection, the N-labeled com-... [Pg.353]

Male Sprague-Dawley rats (Charles River, MO) weighing 150 to 300g were used. They were fed NIH 31 diet and housed in rooms... [Pg.356]

Bisphenol A causes adverse reproductive and developmental effects in animal studies. But, is the weight of evidence sufficient to consider bisphenol A of high or moderate concern for reproductive and/or developmental toxicity In 2003, the European Union concluded that bisphenol A may adversely affect fertility (reproductive toxic) and that low dose studies indicate bisphenol A may be a development toxicant. Since the EU risk assessment of bisphenol A, a significant body of experimental data has been published evaluating the toxicity potential of bisphenol A at low doses. There is considerable debate on which studies are relevant for evaluating low dose effects of bisphenol A. Issues in the debate include the type of animal studied (the Charles River-Sprague Dawley rat, for example, is the least sensitive test animal to estrogenic chemicals), the... [Pg.36]

Mondino, A., Peano, S. Berruto, P. (1981) Thirteen week repeated dose study of the test article TT191 (3-methyi-1,2,4-trithiane) orally administered to Sprague-Dawley Charles River CD(SD)BR rats. Unpublished report from Istituto di Ricerche Biomediche Antoine Marxef SpA, Torino, Italy. Submitted to WHO by the International Organization of the Flavor Industry, Brussels, Belgium. [Pg.233]

Electron diffraction pattern of anatase as shown in Fig. 48. 50 mg of the dust were suspended in 2 ml saline and given intr eritoneally to a 194 g Sprague-Dawley rat (Charles River, France). 4 days later under pentobarbital anaesthesia (30 mg/kg), the animal was perfused from the abdominal aorta with 2.5 % glutaraldehyde in 0.1 M sodium cacodylate buffer (pH 7.4). Postfixation with 1 % osmium tetroxide in sodium cacodylate buffer. Embedded in Epon 812 and sectioned at 50 nm. Stained with lead citrate and uranyl acetate. - Particles analysed were within phagolysosomes of Kupffer cells (block 4460). Film 224/79... Fig. 49. Winkelmann (Borchen-Kirchborchen, Westphalia), Sprague-Dawley (Charles River, France) and Wistar rats of either sex were used in the experiments. They were fed Altromin R ad libitum. [Pg.65]
