Speed of acquisition

Pulses of ions can be directed into the TOF analyzer at the rate of about 30 kHz, and, therefore, more than 30,000 spectra per second can be collected and summed. There are significant improvements in signal-to-noise ratios and speed of acquisition of data. 

In addition when it is necessary to process a large number of specimens per day, taking hours over a single specimen is clearly not a practical approach. The use of MRI to examine fresh, unfixed fetal rat and rabbit heads from embryo-fetal development (EFD) studies has already been proposed (6) (see Note 1) and the compromise between image quality and speed of acquisition that is necessary under these circumstances examined. MRI is now considered to have the potential to be an acceptable alternative to current methods after throughput was increased by scanning multiple specimens in parallel with careful optimization of scan parameters. 

High field Fourier transform NMR (B0 = 17.6T for the study of H at 750 MHz) has considerably expanded the scope of this method, due to the speed of acquisition... 

The introduction of 64-slice MDCT scanners opens a new phase for CT imaging, thanks to the improved spatial resolution on the longitudinal axis as well as the increase speed of acquisition. Since new acquisition protocols make routinely use of suh-millimeter collimation and suh-millimeter image reconstruction, a real volumetric approach to abdominal imaging is made possible. 

Speed of acquisition is not predictive of later intelligence, but retention of what has been learned is predictive (Fagen and Ohr, 2001) Tasks can be computer driven, which increases cost, but then requires little examiner training other tasks are nonautomated but require a moderate amount of examiner training (Fagen and Ohr, 2001)... 

FT-RAIRS is closely related to high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS) (see Section 27,7.3), and they are often used together in the same system. The two techniques are complementary. since FT-RAIRS has high energy resolution ( 2cm ) and speed of acquisition, but... 

Another approach to imaging dosed compounds involves using MS scans alone (14, 15). This was demonstrated for both an injected P-peptide (15) and a small molecule with its metabolites (14) in whole-body rats and mice. The advantage to this approach is mostly speed of acquisition, as all signals obtained in the full mass range can be imaged in one experiment. However, it lacks the unambiguous identification of compounds that is typically obtained from an MS/MS experiment. 

Concluding, MDCT undoubtedly represents a major advance in the imaging of congenital heart disease. Its application to small children, in particular, is promising, due to the ease and speed of acquisition and 3D imaging with high spatial resolution. However, it is equally true that for a large number of simple and common malformations, such as atrial septal defects... 

Modern CT scanners are able to obtain collimations smaller than 1 mm over the complete range of the aorta. In many cases, the limiting factors of acquisition time are hemodynamic therefore, the highest possible speed of acquisition (table movement, pitch) has to be reduced. 

When lasers first emerged from the laboratory and became commercially available in the late 1960s, they have found application in diverse areas. Spectrometric analysis was among the technology s earliest applications. Unlike established continuum sources, the monochromatic, coherent beams from lasers delivered high energy density. The result was a quantum leap in spatial and temporal resolution, sensitivity and speed of acquisition. For more than 40 years, spectrometric techniques implemented sources with narrower wavebands, shorter pulses and tunable emission.
