Vegetable oils and natural fats are traditional raw materials for the production of soaps and other surfactants. Coconut oil, palm and palm kernel oil, rape oil, cotton oil, tall oil, as well as the fats of animal origin (tallow oil, wool wax), present renewable raw sources. Linear paraffins and olefins (with terminal or internal double bond), higher synthetic alcohols, and benzene are fossil sources for surfactant production which are obtained from oil, natural gas and coal. Other auxiliary materials are required to construct amphiphilic surfactant structure, such as ethylene oxide, sulphur trioxide, phosphorous pentaoxide, chloroacetic acid, maleic anhydride, ethanolamine, and others. [Pg.3]

The high voltages used to generate the primary beam and hence the secondary beam plus the high concentration of sputtered neutral molecules made magnetic sector instruments the most ideal mass analyzer to use with liquid SIMS sources. Linear... [Pg.2820]

We suppose that a measurement signal is a mix of r (unknown) independent sources Sj with variance cf. A detector give p> r measurement signals /W/t obtained with several frequencies. The relations between sources and measurement signals are supposed to be linear, but the transfer matrix T is unknown. If we get n >p>r samples m i) of measurement signals, mix of n... [Pg.364]

In this paper a new design for a high-energy 3D-CT scanner equipped with a linear accelerator as radiation source and an area high-energy x-ray detector is presented. This system is the extension of a 2D system which is installed at present time [3,4]. [Pg.492]

The setup as seen in Figure 1 mainly consists of a Varian Linatron 3000A linear accelerator (LINAC) as radiation source, a rotational stage for sample manipulation, and a two-dimensional high-energy x-ray detector array consisting of four amorphous silicon area detectors Heimann RIS 256. The source to detector distance is 3.7 m. [Pg.492]

The source of radiation is a linear accelerator with selectable primary energies of 6, 9 or 11 MeV ( VARIAN Linatron 3000 A). The output of the LINAC at 9 MV is 3000 rad ( 30 Gy) per minute. The pulse length is 3.8 microseconds with repetition frequencies between 50 and 250 Hertz. [Pg.584]

Objects which are not covered completely by the fan-beam, which is defined by the linear detector array and the source can be inspected in a special mode. In this case the usable width of the fan is doubled, by placing the turning centre of the object onto the two edges oft the fan. [Pg.586]

This is an approximation to the complete dispersion equation [131]. The amplitude of a train of waves originating from an infinitely long linear source decays exponentially with the distance x from the source... [Pg.122]

In the previous sections we have described the interaction of the electromagnetic field with matter, that is, tlie way the material is affected by the presence of the field. But there is a second, reciprocal perspective the excitation of the material by the electromagnetic field generates a dipole (polarization) where none existed previously. Over a sample of finite size this dipole is macroscopic, and serves as a new source tenu in Maxwell s equations. For weak fields, the source tenu, P, is linear in the field strength. Thus,... [Pg.224]
