Some Special Cases

There are some special conditions in electrochemical simulations that have an effect on stability. [Pg.260]

Another factor affecting stability is a derivative boundary condition. Keast and Mitchell pointed out potential problems with CN in this regard [334], and investigations in the electrochemical context revealed some problems with methods otherwise thought to be unconditionally stable, such as CN and Saul yev [116,117,118]. The CN method was found to become [Pg.260]

In these fruits occur the following highly methoxylated flavones and flavanones which have not been reported as occurring in any other natural source  [Pg.289]

As is so often the case with cultivated plants, the systematic botany of citrus fruits is exceedingly confused, especially since the recognized species seem to be almost completely interfertile. Swingle, in Webber and Batchelor s The Citrus Industry (1938), recommends the terminology given in the second column of Table V. Since other authors, whose work will be quoted, have employed other names, synonyms are given in the third column. [Pg.290]

Citrus nabilis Citrus ddiciosa Citrus nobUis var. deliciosa Citrus poonensis [Pg.290]

Swingle (loc. ciL, p. 392) gives the following distributions of flavones and flavanones  [Pg.290]

Hesperidin in C. limon, C. aurantium, C. sinensis, C. medica. Naring in C. aurantium, C. paradisi, C. grandis. [Pg.290]

In order to analyze the properties of this system, it is convenient to rewrite the PF of a single polymer in a different form. We define the quantity [Pg.170]

We can now sum all these equations, but in order of increasing it i.e., we sum accordine to columns with the same value of k. Thus  [Pg.171]

instead of summing over the number of ligands i in (3.6.3), we sum over the index k, the number of subunits in the I conformational states. Each term in the latter sum corresponds to a polymer with k subunits in the L and 4 - it subunits in the H state, independently of the state of occupancy of the polymer. [Pg.171]

Note that if the factor k) is constant, the sum over k could be performed using the binomial theorem i.e., if 0(A ) = c, where c is a constant independent of it, then (3.6.16) reduces to [Pg.171]

Each factor on the rhs of (3.6.17) is the PF of a single subunit. The factorizing of in this case is the same as if j (k) = c = 1, i.e., when there are no interactions between the subunits. As we have seen in earlier sections, an effective independence can also be achieved under weaker conditions. [Pg.171]

J.E. Baldwin (1976 B) also introduced a set of rules for closure reactions of 3- to 7-membered rings which are derived from similar arguments about stereoelectronic control . The specific rules are clearly explained in the original paper and need not be repeated here since their utility seems to be restricted to some specialized cases. The assumed... [Pg.315]

In some special cases, steam filtration can be used to gain the advantages ot temperature without having to heat the feed slurry. [Pg.1693]

Flare elevation and spacing must be such that permissible radiant heat densities for persoimel at grade are not exceeded under conditions of maximum heat release. The appropriate calculation procedures and personnel exposure criteria are described later. In some special cases, flare elevation and spacing may be governed by radiant heat exposure of certain vulnerable items of equipment, rather than personnel. [Pg.251]

Ttansmetalation of tliioetliets to organocopper compounds can also be performed in some special cases. Tluis, tteatment of the ester 119 with MeyCuLi-LiCN provides the copper reagent 120, which can be treated successfully witli several electrophiles such as allyl bromide ot acid chlorides to afford the expected products such as 121 iScbeme 2.54) [115, 116]. [Pg.68]

So far there is no cover-all recipe for remedying these undesirable phenomena yet recommendations have been made for some special cases which included proper choice of process conditions and methods, rational design of molds and articles allowing one to minimize the negative effect of filler and matrix orientation in the manufacturing process [370],... [Pg.58]

Nowadays economy and ecology render the reuse of the sulfite solution increasingly important. Normally the scrubber liquor is recovered as dilution water directly in the neutralization of sulfonation plant or in the slurry preparation unit of synthetic detergent plants. In some special cases, when the presence of sulfites is incompatible with the slurry composition, it is possible to install as optional a sulfite oxidation unit. This oxidation takes place with atmospheric air. [Pg.691]

There are some special cases where tetrahedral intermediates are unusually stable there are three phenomena which lead to this stability enhancement. The first is an unusually reactive carbonyl (or imine) compound which is very prone to addition. An example of such a compound is trichoroacetaldehyde or chloral, for which the covalent hydrate can be isolated. A simple way to recognize such compounds is to think of the carbonyl group as a (very) stabilized carbocation, bearing an substituent. [Pg.8]

In some special cases the adducts react in a different way in the presence ofTHF. [Pg.179]

Today it is widely accepted that fivefold coordinated silicon plays a key role in the reaction mechanisms of the nucleophilic substitution having a trigonal bipyramidal transition state species which ressemble these transition states can be isolated in some special cases. The structural features fit well to kinetic data and possibly explain the significantly higher reactivity (proved by experimental data) of Si-pentacoordinated compounds compared to their tetracoordinated analoga. [Pg.155]

Optimal sampling. As was pointed out earlier, the error in the derivative of A is proportional to ak j Jnk(N). The optimal sampling is therefore obtained when ak/ Jnk(N) is constant as a function of k. In regions where ak is large, additional sample points should be added to compensate. This is often a small effect but in some special cases is worth considering. In order to obtain the optimal sampling, the potential energy should be corrected as... [Pg.144]

In some special cases simplifications are possible that make the process easier. For example,... [Pg.473]

Solutions of the Population Balance. Solution of the population balance is not trivial. Analytical solutions are available for only a limited number of special cases. Table 8 lists analytical solutions for some special cases of practical importance. In general, analytical solutions are only available for specific initial or inlet size distributions. However, for batch coalescence, at long times the size distribution may become self preserving. The size distribution is self preserving if the normalized size distributions at long times are independent of mean size ... [Pg.413]

Note that the charge-exchange cross sections given here are rather approximate. In some special cases, better approximations may be available however, modifications of Bohr s formulas were considered adequate for use over a large range of particle charge and energy. [Pg.61]

However, in some special cases, the lost of information due to the thresholding procedure may cause a noticeable systematic error, because each lattice point such that < )(r) > < )0 contributes the same volume fraction 1/L3 regardless of the field magnitude. Consider an asymmetric binary mixture undergoing the phase separation. The local volume fraction distribution P(< >) has maxima at the equilibrium volume fractions, 1, and is asymmetric relatively to... [Pg.204]

Some special cases of interaction between non-conjugated... [Pg.173]

If two matrices are square, they can be multiplied together in any order. In general, the multiplication is not commutative. That is AB BA, except in some special cases. It is said that the matrices do not commute, and this is the property of major importance in quantum mechanics, where it is common practice to define the commutator of two matrices as... [Pg.15]

This may be possible in some special cases (stationary bottleneck situation, friendly requirements situation, etc.). Quite often one happily accepts a solution that is declared to be optimal by the program. [Pg.275]

Kocevar et al. investigated the reactivity of 3-hydrazinopyridazines 386 in the presence of the oxazolone compound 387 <2001H(54)1011 >. In some special cases (mostly when R8 = Me), formation of 388 in high yields was observed, while in other cases an entirely different transformation (formation of a pyrazolone ring as a substituent instead of the hydrazine group) was experienced. [Pg.724]
