Sodium glycolate water

P 20] The reaction was carried out using ethylene glycol/water (60 40 wt.-%) and hydrogen [63, 66]. To stabilize the gas/liquid interface, sodium dodecyl sulfate was added as surfactant. By this means, a foam stable for at least 6 min at 60 °C was achieved. Bubbles of a typical size of 200 pm were formed. The liquid content in the foam amounted to 20%. [Pg.633]

Annikov, V. E. et al., Chem. Abs., 1983, 99, 73190 MRH Acetone 4.89/18, ethanol 4.73/18, ethylene glycol 4.35/26 The detonation and combustion limits of mixtures of sodium perchlorate, water and ethylene glycol, glycerol, 1,3-butylene glycol, 2,3-butylene glycol, formamide, dimethylformamide, ethanolamine, diaminoethane, acetone, urea and galactose have been studied. [Pg.1397]

Glycol/water mixture leaks from jacket into blender, reacts with aluminum powder and sodium hydrosulfite, and initiates exothermic decomposition No—N2 atmosphere, confinement in blender R NOAA Worksheet indicates combining sodium hydrosulfite with ethylene glycol is "explosive due to vigorous reaction or reaction products may produce detonation," "may cause fire," and indicates "flammable gas generation" and "heat generation by chemical reaction, may cause pressurization"... [Pg.142]

A continuous foam flow was generated by the micro mixer, which was composed of small bubbles of hydrogen with a diameter of about 200 pm in the liquid [ethylene glycol/water, 60 40 (w/w) sodium dodecyl sulfate as surfactant] (see Figure 3.77). The reaction rate was proportional to the catalyst concentration and decreased with increasing surfactant concentration [6],... [Pg.479]

Glycollie Acid.—If a solution of 30 g. sodium glycollate in 38 cc. water is electrolyzed with a current strength of 1 amp., there are formed chiefly carbonic acid and formaldehyde,. besides a little carbon monoxide, formic acid, and oxygen (Miller and Hofer1). Walker2 obtained aldehyde in the electrolysis of the sodium salt of ethyl glycollic ether. [Pg.97]

In the system Si02-Na0H-EG, water may be present in trace amounts as an impurity or as a product of a reaction between NaOH and EG to form sodium glycolate. In an investigation into the possibility that water acts as a catalyst, EG-SS was synthesised from a system where sodium metal was dissolved in redistilled EG before being mixed with Si02 previously dried at 500°C. No differences were observed in the rate of formation of the EG-SS or in the purity of the product. However, the experimental difficulties of ensuring complete ramoval of water from the system ara such that, as yet, a catalytic role for water cannot be entirely eliminated. [Pg.212]

Sodium Glycolate Sample Solution Transfer about 500 mg of sample, accurately weighed, into a 100-mL beaker, moisten thoroughly with 5 mL of glacial acetic acid, followed by 5 mL of water, and stir with a glass rod until solution is complete (usually about 15 min). While stirring, slowly add 50 mL of acetone, then add 1 g of sodium chloride, and stir for several minutes to ensure complete precipitation of the Cellulose Gum. Filter through a soft, open-textured paper, previously wetted with a small amount of acetone, and collect the filtrate in a 100-mL volumetric flask. Use an additional 30 mL of acetone to facilitate transfer of the solids and to wash the filter cake, then dilute to volume with acetone, and mix. [Pg.108]

Sample preparation Pump 125 mL of a solution of interferon in ethylene glycol 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer containing 1 M NaCl 50 50 onto the column (which was previously equilibrated with 1 M NaCl in ethylene glycol water 50 50) then start the gradient. [Pg.790]

The synthesis works with some excess of NaOH and chloroacetic acid or sodium chloroacetate. The ethoxylation grade of nonionics and the water content influence the conversion and reaction rate. Along with NaCl, a certain amount of sodium glycolate and sodium diglycolate Na00CCH20CH2C00Na is formed. [Pg.41]

The commercial product has a D.S. of 0.3 to 0.7. It is purified by extraction with alcohol-water mixtures to remove salt and sodium glycolate. The product is a polyelectrolyte soluble in polar solvents. [Pg.48]
