Social environment smoking

FAS is normally characterized by growth retardation, anomalies of the head and face, and psychomotor dysfunctions. Excessive consumption of ethyl alcohol may lead to malformations of the heart, extremities, and kidneys. Since consumption of ethyl alcohol is socially acceptable and prevalent even in pregnant women, the risks associated with the use of ethyl alcohol are remarkable. However, it should be kept in mind that there are several chemical compounds in tlie occupational environment that may also cause malformations even at low doses. The oc-cupationally-important known human teratogens include methyl mercury, ethyl alcohol, PCB compounds, tobacco smoke, lead, TCDD, 2,4,5- F, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, gasoline, and fluoride. 

The desire to smoke can also be brought on by reinforcing factors called external stimuli such as the sight, taste, and smell of tobacco smoke, as well as the social setting and rituals associated with smoking. These previously neutral stimuli in the environment, or certain events, can become associated with tobacco use and thus become triggers for a desire to smoke. 

One way to understand what happened between the puff of smoke and the eventual disintegration of the shuttle is as the development and consequences of compounded abstraction. Robert Irwin (1977) coined this phrase to summarize the fate of initial perceptions as they are reworked in the interest of coordination and control. As social beings, we organize and structure ourselves and our environment into an objective order we organize our perceptions of things into various pre-established abstract structures. Our minds direct our senses every bit as much as our senses inform our minds. Our reality in time is confined to our ideas about reality (Irwin, 1977 24). 

Home should be suitable for the ventilator-dependent child. No home care can be allowed if the minimal safety requirements are not Mfilled. An important role of the home care organization or social worker is to check the appropriateness of the home environment. A visit to the home is recommended before discharge. Smoking by the parents or others should be prohibited in home.
