Soap chips

Soap chips are made by running a thin sheet of melted soap onto a cool cylinder and scraping off the soaps in small broken pieces. Soap granules are dried miniature soap bubbles. Soap powders and scouring soaps contain some soap, a scouring agent (abrasive) such as powdered pumice or finely divided sand, and builders like sodium carbonate and trlsodlum phosphate. Builders make the soaps act more rapidly. The cleansing action of soap has been discussed in Unit 5. 

Use Pharmacy (emulsions), adhesives, leather dressing, textile printing and sizing, thickener and emulsifier, dyes, food products (ice cream, desserts), toothpastes, coating soap chips and powders, hair-wave preparations, confectionery, printing inks, tablet binder. 

This proved to be a serious detriment. To be successful, consumer product innovations must show a large measure of similarity to the conventional products they are intended to displace. In this case, copious foam was the essential performance attribute that needed to be as close as possible to that generated from powders and soap chips. 

Pour soap chips or powder into the upper pot of the double boiler to one quarter of pot volume. 

Pour any one of the liquid hydrocarbon fueb listed under Material and EqniprnerU above into the upper pot containing the soap chips or powder until the pot is cne-half full. 

Particulate solids are powders, flakes, chips, etc., e.g. detergent powders, soap chips.

Current mass market soap manufacturing is based primarily around continuous soap making using either fat saponification or by fatty acid neutralization, utilizing a wide variety of natural and synthetic feedstocks. The soap chips produced are then usually finished using a high-speed soap line comprised of refiner mill, extruder, and stamper. Batch... 

For each of these routes the aim is to produce soap chips with moismre content in the range 8-14%.
