Precipitation of trinitrobenzene or other sensitive energetic materials in the energetics slurry handling and SILVER II system was identified as a concern during Demo II testing. Design changes identified in the final EDP and demonstrated in EDS II 12-kW tests appear to adequately prevent precipitation. [Pg.83]

It is clear then, that the concept of Odom Potential of a sludge or slurry can be a useful tool not only to the odour specialist but also to the operators of sewage treatment works and agricultural slurry handling facilities in minimising the nuisance from the disposal of sludges. [Pg.153]

Fouling tendency Low Low to moderate High. Tends to collsot solids Extremely low, Suitable where fouling is extensive and for slurry handling. [Pg.267]

Chemical wear is important in a number of industries, such as mining mineral processing, chemical processing, and slurry handling. A typical example of a corroded roller subsequent to running in a bearing is shown in Figure 6.35. The corrosion left a... [Pg.396]

The removal of large particles and agglomerates is the main objective of filtration. Filtration is also used to eliminate any other contaminants that possibly have been introduced by improper slurry handling or have been collected from within the distribution system. The major criterion of filtration is to remove the oversized particles that could be defect causing without altering the slurry performance. Filtration will be further discussed in Chapter 18. [Pg.393]

It is important to note that present AccuSizer measurements were obtained with a particle-size threshold of 0.56 pm (the lowest possible size threshold available for this analyzer) and any LPC growth behavior for particles smaller than 0.56 pm could not be seen in these data. MLC pump extensive handling showed a slight increase in mean particle size and PSD of silica-H slurry, as will be discussed later. The above behavior of LPC may be attributed to the cumulative effects of low-intensity continuous shear application to the bulk volume of slurry handled at very high pump speeds in MLC pump. In Fig. 18.21b, the LPC trend for the complete 330 h of Test 1 is very similar to the first 45 h. [Pg.607]

Note though that different design standards apply for refrigeration plants, fuel gas piping, power plants, and slurry-handling systems. [Pg.263]
