Site and office management should have an awareness of the requirements of the Environmental Protection Act s Duty of Care provisions.

The organizational chart further identifies key positions in the project team, including the project director, project manager, site safety and health officer (SSHO), site supervisor, emergency response coordinator, site security, and other specialized positions. 

Security issues involving access controls are typically line management responsibilities. However, it is not unheard of to have the SSHO in charge of site access or other security-related matters. However, if the field team leader or site supervisors are in charge of access issues or other security matters, they should always strive for SSHO participation. Laboratory safety data When the CRFs arrive at the data manager s office, questions will arise relating to laboratory safety data. Queries may occur at the investigator site and advice can be requested from the pharmaceutical physician associated with the clinical trial in the sponsor company. 

The new GCP requires clinical study sites to have enough facilities to conduct clinical trials and be able to cope in the case of emergency. Adequately trained staff should be available. The sites must prepare SOPs for accepting, reviewing and operating clinical trial. Additional SOPs are required for the operation of the Institutional Review Board (IRB). A clinical trial office and an office for IRB operation must be established in the study site. These requirements have been defined as the minimum requirements for any clinical trial to be conducted in hospitals equipped with ample resources, to manage many SOPs, and office staff for clinical trial and IRB.

The other three major activities within the waste isolation program are specific to particular sites. We are currently evaluating the potential of deep basalt flows below the Hanford reservation in the State of Washington. This work is managed by the Richland Operations Office and is being conducted by the Rockwell Hanford Company. An evaluation of a potential site is underway in southeast New Mexico for the location of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) which is primarily a facility for the placement of transuranium contaminated wastes (TRU) from the defense program. 

The Office of Environmental Restoration and Waste Management (EM) manages the DOE environmental programs.
