Setting the Rules

The laboratory operator should establish the rules for housekeeping and set a good example for all who work there. When working on a project, he should put all reagents and equipment back into proper storage. It is a great morale builder when workers see that the boss cleans up his own mess. Besides, they will quickly come to his assistance should he be in a bind. Far too many laboratory supervisors will routinely walk away from the debris of an experiment or a test and expect others to clean it up.

The NRC has developed special procedures for the handling, transportation, and storage of nuclear fuel because radioactivity can be a health hazard if not properly shielded. Spent fuel is typically transported by rail or tmck in heavily shielded (Type B), sealed, thick metal shipping containers designed to withstand possible accidents, such as derailments or coHisions, which may occur during transport. For professionals who work in the same setting, the rules around confidentiality are less clear, particularly when patient charts contain both medical and mental health notes. We agree, but we also believe that making this policy explicit to the patient and family is important. Case notes are especially vulnerable to mishandling. For example, there is always a chance that mental health notes that are part of the medical record could be unintentionally released to a third party. If expectations are communicated and understood among the patient, family, therapist, and physicians, confidentiality need not impede collaboration (see Tables 10.3 and 10.4). Furthermore, collaboration need not violate confidentiality. 

The parent-child model says that discipline equals punishment. The adult-adult model says that discipline equals structure. In a parent-child model, both the parent and the child react in an emotional manner. The parent says, I set the rules or Because I say so.
