Perhaps the transmitter is not putting out pulses. Can you see pulse feedthrough on the start of the scope trace Can you use the scope to check the output of the transmitter to make sure that it is pulsing (Use an indirect method. See Section VI.A.l.)... 

The first-order diffraction intensity is recorded on a storage oscilloscope. The YAG pulse is 10 ns long, and the detector time constant is 10 ns. This must be kept in mind when interpreting the scope trace. 

Rounding is determined from the 15 kHz signal. It is realistic to delay the start point and to define a duration along the scope trace for the measurement. Separate observations should be made on rising and falling sides of the square wave, as shown in Fig. 20.35. 

Any time the scope trace disappears, turn the VOLTS / DIV towards the left, to 5 V, and switch the TRIGGER SOURCE to LINE. Adjust POSITION, Y slowly up or down all the way, until the visible line appears again. Then adjust these knobs back toward the desired settings, in small steps. 

Other items related to the site conditions that should be communicated are temperature range, if outdoor and type of protection, if outdoor (Is there a roof Are there sides Is the entire installation completely open ). The requirement for heat tracing and other details of this nature that the vendor is to include in his scope of supply should be specified. Whether the machine is at grade or is elevated must also be specified. 

The procedure is experimentally simple, and the workup involves only the destruction of the traces of hydrogen peroxide with manganese dioxide and evaporation of the hexamethyldisiloxane. The goals of this chapter do not include a "state of the art" literature review which would be appropriate for a more in-depth discussion of one particular problem area. Rather the intent is to illustrate mechanistic approaches to river quality assessment using the three globally relevant water quality problem areas discussed in the previous chapter dissolved oxygen depletion, erosion/deposition, and potentially toxic trace elements. The information provided does not include all rationale, methology or approaches used in the study as this is beyond the scope of the chapter. Additional general information on application of the intensive river quality assessment approach in the Willamette River basin may be found elsewhere (4-9, 11-14, 17). 

Packed column SFC and CE are both able to make inroads into the application area served by HPLC, but from opposite extremes of polarity and with little overlap. CE is likely to be more efficient and faster, but mostly applicable to very polar molecules and ions. SFC qualifies as a more reproducible, trace technique, with greater selectivity and multiple detection options. HPLC and CE have been compared [365], Owing to their orthogonality, CZE and SFC are worth developing, not in competition or as an alternative to HPLC, but as an additional method in order to augment the information obtained from the analysis. With the broad scope of possible eluents and stationary phases, HPLC has fewer constraints than SFC and CZE. The parameters influencing selectivity may be used as a guide to optimisation (Table 4.44). 

A loop exists where a close path can be traced through the network. There is a loop in the network shown in Figure 3.27. The loop is shown in Figure 3.28. The presence of a loop indicates that there is scope for reducing the number of exchangers. 

The analysis methods are national in scope and address emissions from a wide variety of industrial and community source types. The materials reviewed are of widely disparate natures. They include metals, and bulk and trace hydrocarbons, including chlorinated and oxide derivatives of hydrocarbons. The analyses are intended to be preliminary screening analyses for use in scoping and prioritizing regulatory attention to toxic exposures from the chemicals studied.
