Below the medial tibial condyle, on the medial border of the body of the tibia. [Pg.241]

Four fingerbreadths distal to the anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS) along the line to the medial epicondyle (ME) of the tibia. Insert the electrode just lateral to the femoral artery (FA) to a depth of about one-half inch. [Pg.242]

Patient to flex, abduct and externally rotate thigh. [Pg.242]

If the needle electrode is inserted too deeply or too distally it will be in the rectus femoris if inserted too medially it will be in the iliacus if inserted too laterally it will be in the tensor fascia lata. [Pg.242]

Batel (Ref 9) made a comparison of separation and sedimentation results as shown in Figure IS. The results of separation by Bahco, Gonell, and Air Jet tie in very well with the results of sedimentation (Andreasen and Sartorius)... [Pg.514]

Uniformly labeled C-8-D with a specific activity of 2.99 juc/mg was administered orally to pregnant females at 2 /xg/kg/day from 6-15 days of gestation. Three females were sacrificed on alternate days during days 6-20 of pregnancy. Triplicate samples of fetus, placenta, blood, brain, abdominal fat, and sartorius muscle were procured from each female. The samples were dissolved in 1 ml of Soluene (Packard Instruments) to which 15 ml of Aquasol were added. Each sample vial was counted for 30 min in a Nuclear Chicago Mark I liquid scintillation counter. [Pg.71]

Sea urchin toxins extracted from spines or pedicellariae have a variety of pharmacological actions, including electrophysiological ones (75). Dialyzable toxins from Diadema caused a dose-dependent increase in the miniature end-plate potential frequency of frog sartorius muscle without influencing membrane potential (76). A toxin from the sea urchin Toxopneustes pUeolus causes a dose-dependent release of histamine (67). Toxic proteins from the same species also cause smooth muscle contracture in guinea pig ileum and uterus, and are cardiotoxic (77). [Pg.322]

For a better fit of the system response, the method of Oldenbourg and Sartorius, as described in Douglas (1972), using a combination of two first-order lags plus a time delay, can be used. The method is illustrated in Fig. 2.24. and applies for the case... [Pg.86]

Several issues have to be kept in mind when reading this chapter. First, there are vast differences between the economically disadvantaged countries (Sartorius, 2001). In most of them, however, the gap between the richest and poorest parts of the population has grown over the past few decades and continues to grow. The health care for the poorest groups in the population has also become weaker and of poorer quality. In relation to pharmacotherapy this means that even when low-cost medications are made available the poor do not benefit from this, because the weakness of the health system makes it impossible for them to get to health care staff who could advise them and guide them in taking these medications. [Pg.151]

After a hydroformylation run, the reaction solution was subjected to ultrafiltration using an asymmetric polyethersulfone membrane (MWCO 50 kDa) supplied by Sartorius. A retention of 99.8% was found. When the catalyst solution was recycled, virtually the same catalytic activity was observed again (165 TO h 1). Repetitive recycling experiments resulted in 2-7% loss of rhodium, which was subscribed to partial oxidation of the phosphine ligand. [Pg.101]

Burton and coworkers [65] have studied the distribution of arsenic in the Atlantic Ocean. Samples from 1000 m and above were filtered through acid-washed 0.45 xm Sartorius membrane filters. Analyses on samples from depths below 1000 m were made on unfiltered water. [Pg.138]

The Sartorius Absorption Model (26), which served as the forerunner to the BCS, simulates concomitant release from the dosage form in the GI tract and absorption of the drug through the lipid barrier. The most important features of Sartorius Absorption Model are the two reservoirs for holding different media at 37°C, a diffusion cell with an artificial lipid barrier of known surface area, and a connecting peristaltic pump which aids the transport of the solution or the media from the reservoir to the compartment of the diffusion cell. The set-up is shown in Figures 7a and b. [Pg.27]

The culture medium was prepared by dissolving all the compounds for the culture medium except L-threonine in an Erlenmeyer flask containing 5 L of water. The pH was adjusted to 5.5 with NaOH and then sterilized for 20 min at 120 °C. L-Threonine was filtered (syringe sterile filter Sartorius Minisart 0.2 pm) and was added to the sterilized culture medium. [Pg.219]
