Safety driving

Analysis of substances of abuse involves different fields of application including diagnosis of acute/ lethal intoxication, differentiation between chronic and occasional substance abuse (as it may imply different legal consequences for the substance abuser), enforcement of drug traffic safety (driving under influence), and the identification of the source of origin of illicit drugs.

Poor management control or lack of management control is what invariably leads to accidents, which in turn cause loss. The key to a positive safety culture, a weak safety culture, or a change in safety culture is management s commitment, involvement, and leadership of the safety drive.

Fleet safety driving performance depends on management s commitment to the implementation of a formal fleet safety program. An effective safety program will interact with most aspects of fleet operations and challenge the skills and knowledge of its supervisors and drivers. 

The initiative to lannch and maintain safety momentum is required from top management, so is the leadership and ongoing support necessary to prevent downgrading accidents that lead to losses. All managers should be visibly committed to the safety drive and this visibility will involve their frequent visits to the shop floor to mingle with the workers and manage the safety at the point of action. The closer to the point of action, the more effective the safety management will be.

In addition to energy conservation, the variable speed drives offer better control because of a faster response, ie, reduced dead band. They are also sometimes chosen for safety reasons because of elimination of the control station and accompanying valving. The capital saved by use of a smaller motor and elimination of the control valve partially compensates for the cost of the drive.
