Nitrile rubber, due to its oil resistance, is widely used in sealing applications, hose liners, roll coverings, conveyor belts, shoe soles and plant linings. Nitrile rubber is also available as a latex. [Pg.90]

SBR also finds use in conveyor belts, moulded rubber goods, shoe soles, hose and roll coverings. SBR is also available as a latex which is used in carpet backing and other applications. [Pg.97]

Silopren. Payer] Silicone rubber used in seals and ofoer technical moldings and extrodates, roll covers, conveyor belting, cable and wire insulations, pharmaceutical goods. [Pg.337]

Uses. Emulsion SBRs are generally used in combination with BR in the production of car and light truck tires. Other apphcations include belting, shoe soles, hose, molded rubber goods, cable insulation, roll coverings, and so forth. Uses of various grades of E SBRs are shown in Table 4.12. [Pg.265]

Uses of Epichlorohydrin Rubbers. Because of their properties and moderate price, epichlorohydrin rubbers are used in automotive apphcations such as seals, gaskets, hoses, and tubing. They are also used in coated fabrics and roll covers. [Pg.273]

Uses of Acrylic Rubbers. The main uses of ACM are in automotive and engineered products. Applications include seals and O-rings (for crankshafts, automatic and differential transmissions, valves, and so on) and oil hose. ACM vulcanizates are also used for roll coverings, tank linings, and fabric covering. [Pg.275]

Calendered products Calendered rubber sheets are widely used in various applications such as conveyer belts, bumpers, gaskets, roll coverings, brake linings, seals and tyre patches. [Pg.65]

Seldom used alone, commonly used with thiazoles, thiurams, dithiocarbamates, and sulfenamides to promote its activity as an accelerant. Mainly used in processing thick rubber products, tread rubber, breaker rubber, and mbber roll cover. [Pg.51]

Carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) has better abrasion resistance than regular NBR. Their applications are automotive seals, industrial footwear, mechanical goods, textile spinning cots, adhesives, packings, flat drive belting, hoses, industrial wheels, oil well specialties, and roll covers. [Pg.222]

EPDM rubber preferred for a great number of specific applications. For many years peroxide-cured EPDM based compounds have been applied, e.g., for window seals, automotive hoses, steam hoses, conveyer belts, roof sheeting, tank lining, roll coverings, mouldings, and last but not least, for electrical insulation and jacketing compounds. Two formulation types (403) are illustrated in Tables 33 and 34. [Pg.30]

There is one obvious drawback of high-hysteresis rubber. In normal rolling operation, considerable elastic deformations still take place in the tyre wall, and high-loss tyres will consume fuel and generate considerable heat. The way out is to use a low-loss tyre covered with a high-loss tread - another example of design using composite materials (Fig. 26.9). [Pg.256]
