Rotary Hammer mills

Thereafter, the batteries are either fed in their entirety directly to a rotary hammer mill for component separation and washing, or are manually emptied and washed. The battery tops are independently processed through a hammer mill to separate metal components from casing mbber and plastic. Direct-feed hammer mill breakers offer significant labour cost savings and add to overall efficiency, and represent the preferred approach. [Pg.68]

Applications include electric motor drives for conveyors and other material handling equipment such as stacker reclaimers, crushers, haulages, ball mills, cranes, hammer mills, rotary dryers, centrifuges, reciprocating pumps, winches, fans and wire drawing machines. [Pg.199]

A flow schematic for the Santa Susana molten salt test facility is shown in Figure 3. Salt is loaded into the vessel from a carbonate hopper and a weigh belt feeder. Waste materials are shredded and crushed using a rotary knife shredder and a hammer-mill and are then metered into a pneumatic feed line with a variable-speed auger. [Pg.226]

Forces commonly used in food processes for particle size reduction are compressive, impact, attrition (or shear), and cutting forces. More than one force usually participates in the comminution operation in industrial size-reduction equipment. In particular, crushing rolls use mainly compressive forces, hammer mills are based on impact, disc mills cause particle attrition through shear force application, and rotary knife cutters use cutting forces. [Pg.289]

Other processes exist where the top of the battery is removed by saw and the battery plates extracted via a trommel. The plates and separators are then dried and are charged directly to the furnace. The case, top-lead and other residual lead are recovered via hammer mill and classification. This process, referred to as plate extraction, is mainly used for rotary furnaces utilizing the soda-iron system (see Section 15.3). [Pg.495]

The hammer mill is a variant of the conventional rotary breaker uses a closed far end with a series of hammers in a hammer mill rotating at this end, which breaks the harder coal and rock so that it is less than hole size and leaves through the holes. [Pg.167]
