Rotary mill

Mow has developed the use of rotary mills using freely moving ponderous agitators, such as iron balls, for the reduction of nitro, nitroso, and azo compounds to amines with iron in aqueous emulsion in order to effect grinding action during the reduction. Such mills are also useful in the distillation of aromatic amines from the iron oxide sludges in vacuum. [Pg.143]

Hot in situ recycling is a quite common form of recycling in which the recycling processes of the RA are completed on site. The process consists of heating the pavement to a temperature such that the top asphalt layer can be scarified (or rotary milled) to the specific depth. The loosened asphalt is then mixed, placed and compacted. Depending on the procedure followed, new asphalt material may or may not be added prior to compaction. [Pg.806]

The floated mica concentrate is dewatered. After dewatering (qv), the mica is either dried in a fluid-bed rotary drier, flash dried in a fluid energy mill, or sold "drip-dry" to other mica grinders. The dry mica is then ground and screened to a si2e gradation dictated by the customer. [Pg.288]

The ore is ordinarily ground to pass through a ca 1.2-mm (14-mesh) screen, mixed with 8—10 wt % NaCl and other reactants that may be needed, and roasted under oxidising conditions in a multiple-hearth furnace or rotary kiln at 800—850°C for 1—2 h. Temperature control is critical because conversion of vanadium to vanadates slows markedly at ca 800°C, and the formation of Hquid phases at ca 850°C interferes with access of air to the mineral particles. Mined clay with 22 percent moisture is broken up into pieces of less than 5 cm (2 in) in a rotary impact mill without screen, and fed to a rotary gas-fired lain for drying (see Fig. 20-58).
