Rhubarb is indicated in constipation, bowel movement relief with anal fissures, hemorrhoids, after recto-anal surgery and in preparation for diagnostic interventions of the gastrointestinal tract. [Pg.522]

Irritant agents used in the treatment of constipation include cascara sagrada, castor oil, senna, rhubarb, phenolphthalein, and acetphenolisatin. Phenolphthalein is a constituent of many over-the-counter preparations, including Corrected , Ex-Lax , and Feen-A-Mint .
