Resistant cell lines

Success in regenerating salt-resistant plants from salt-resistant cells has been limited (Table 4). The most extensively quoted example is the work of Nabors et al. (1980) who found that tobacco plants regenerated from NaCl-resistant cell lines survived salinity better than did plants regenerated from unselected lines. The authors themselves were justifiably cautious. [Pg.230]

In cultures of the more resistant cell line, MDCK, the predominant effect of Tyv-specific monoclonal antibodies is to exclude larvae from the monolayer. This exclusion is associated with the formation of cap-like structures that cover the stoma of the larva. Such caps were first described... [Pg.122]

Effect of light on the IC50 values for the inhibition of cell growth of various cancer cell lines by platinum(IV) diazido complexes, (a) toxicity of the cis-complexes 4 and 5 on human bladder cancer cell lines (5637-CDDP, cisplatin-resistant cell line) (b) comparison of cytotoxicities of the cis- and rarcs-isomers 4 and 6 in the dark and upon irradiation cisplatin is included for comparison. Data from Ref. (30). Fig. 7. The first cloned sequences of the multi-drug resistance transporter (P-glycoprotein, MDR1, ABCB1) were isolated from multi-resistant cell lines in which the gene was strongly amplified. By in-gel renaturation analysis these... [Pg.584]

As has been described above. It seems that the continuation of the present study will lead to the development of new anthra-cycllnes which have a much lower toxicity and a stronger therapeutic effect tlum the anthracyclines used clinically at present. Moreover, the screening study for anthracyclines effective against resistant cell lines may lead to the discovery of Interesting new con unds with potential usefulness. [Pg.88]

In the process of developing an in vitro system to select phosphate starvation resistant cell lines we simultaneously selected for a line that was constitutively induced for APase excretion. Tissue cultured tomato cells were plated onto solid medium containing starvation levels of phosphate. While most cells died, we identified isolated clumps of callus capable of near-normal rates of growth. Starvation-resistant cells were used to start suspension cultures that were kept under phosphate starva-... [Pg.35]

It is worthy of note that the activity against MCF7-R expressing MDR phenotype is very sensitive to the structure of the C-10 modifier, while this structural variation generally has little effect on the activity against the normal cancer cell lines. The fact clearly indicates that there is no apparent correlation between the activities of the taxoids against the normal cancer cell lines and the drug-resistant cell line. [Pg.85]
