In laminated composites, the individual layers of materials are bonded together to form an element or plate. When the constituent materials in each layer are the same, the laminated layers are called a laminate (e.g., plywood, papers, etc.). If the layers are of different constituent materials or of the same material with different reinforcing patterns, the laminate is said to be a hybrid laminate. 

Changing or reinforcing patterns and relationships within a system is as necessary to achieving the goals of the system as changing or retaining the parts of the system.

As the examples show, it is not really that the briefing or checklist causes negative events, rather that they can be used in a way that simply reinforces patterns of interaction that are already there. So a surgeon, for instance, can ostensibly take part in the briefing but express their superiority and detachment by not really listening and carrying out other tasks at the same time. A checklist can be read in a clipped and dismissive way, which closes down all possibility of discussion within the team. 

Within the community of people with disabilities and their advocates and service providers, attitudes toward social assistance are somewhat divided. Some see it as unwanted charity or fear that it will reinforce patterns of exclusion. Others see the pragmatic benefits of income support as part of a larger package of needed public policies. Some even see increasing provision of social assistance as a tool helpful for achieving progress on other policy fronts pertinent to people with disabilities (Marriott and Gooding 2007).

In addition to electrical uses, epoxy casting resins are utilized in the manufacture of tools, ie, contact and match molds, stretch blocks, vacuum-forrning tools, and foundry patterns, as weU as bench tops and kitchen sinks. Systems consist of a gel-coat formulation designed to form a thin coating over the pattern which provides a perfect reproduction of the pattern detail. This is backed by a heavily filled epoxy system which also incorporates fiber reinforcements to give the tool its strength. For moderate temperature service, a Hquid bisphenol A epoxy resin with an aHphatic amine is used. For higher temperature service, a modified system based on an epoxy phenol novolak and an aromatic diamine hardener may be used. 

World production of unsaturated polyester resins in 1997 was of the order of 1.7 X 10 tonnes, with the USA accounting for about 45% and Western Europe 27%. Over 75% is used in reinforced plastics, with the rest being used for such diverse applications as car repair putties, cultured marble , wood substitution and surface coatings. The pattern of consumption in 1993 of reinforced polyesters in the USA was reported as ... 

The reinforcement type and form chosen (woven, braided, chopped, etc.) will depend on the performance requirements and the method of processing the RP (Fig. 6-15). Fibers can be oriented in many different patterns to provide the directional properties desired. Depending on their packing arrangement, different reinforcement-to-plastic ratios are obtained (Appendix A. PLASTICS TOOLBOX).

Spray-up Popular system with reinforced plastic production. An air spray gun includes a roller cutter that chops usually glass fiber rovings to a controlled short length before being blown in a random pattern (manually or automatically) onto a surface of the mold simultaneously the gun sprays catalyzed TS polyester plastic. The chopped fibers are plastic coated as they exit the gun s nozzle. The resulting, rather fluffy, RP mass is consolidated with serrated rollers to squeeze out air and reduce or eliminate voids. As one may infer from the quotation, W. L. Bragg realized that a crystal can act as an x-ray grating made up of equidistant parallel planes (Bragg planes) of atoms or ions from which unmodified scattering of x-rays can occur in such fashion that the waves from different planes are in phase and reinforce each other. When this happens, the x-rays are said to undergo Bragg reflection by the crystal and a diffraction pattern results. 

There is some evidence of a synergistic effect on reinforcement with concurrent administration of benzodiazepines and opioids (Walker and Ettenberg 2003). Cocaine abusers are less likely than opioid abusers to abuse benzodiazepines, preferring alcohol and opioids as secondary drugs of abuse. The most common pattern of benzodiazepine misuse in these individuals is intermittent use of therapeutic or supratherapeutic doses to counter unwanted effects of cocaine. 

Dependence and withdrawal can occur with all of the stimulants. Cocaine is one of the most strongly reinforcing drugs in self-administration paradigms in animals and also has a psychological withdrawal syndrome. A typical pattern of withdrawal includes a ravenous appetite, exhaustion, and mental depression, which may last for several days after the drug is withdrawn. Because tolerance develops quickly, abusers may take large doses, compared with those used medically, for example, as anorexiants.
