Regulations performance

WHO has never undertaken a systematic assessment to identify the reasons for ineffective dmg regulation and determine why so few Member States have succeeded in establishing effective dmg regulation. The aim of this multicountry study is to assess dmg regulation performances in selected countries using a standardized study guide, and to document the results so that other countries may learn from them. [Pg.10]

Besides stiuctural constraints, e.g. human and financial resources, the way in which DRA employees perceive their jobs and how they perform are key factors in drug regulation performance. A clear sense of mission on the part of employees is important if regulatory processes are to be pursued consistently. [Pg.134]

The results of applying these strategies under the influence of initial error conditions are shown in Figure 6. As can be observed, both linear regulators ensure the asymptotic tracking of the desired oscillatory temperature profile. Both regulators performance is different because the error feedback regulator behavior depends on the initial states of zi and Z2. [Pg.83]

In order to provide tight shutoff, extra force is needed, and therefore, the pressure difference on the diaphragm must rise. Consequently, at near-zero flow, the regulated pressure will rise. What the manufacturers call the "set point" of the regulator, in fact, is only the pressure at minimum flow (qf Maximum regulator capacity is not at full-valve opening (q2) but at maximum acceptable droop. Information on droop versus flow is therefore essential to check if regulator performance will be satisfactory. [Pg.480]

Under RCRA regulations, performance data from one incinerator can be submitted in lieu of conducting a trial burn on a second incinerator. The permit submittal to accomplish this is similar to that described above and requires the following (40 CFR 270.19(c)) ... [Pg.40]

PVC formulations include a large number of additives performing essential functions during their processing and regulating performance properties of final products. In the separate sections of this chapter, various groups of additives are briefly discussed to show their major types, typical concentrations, reasons for addition, most important properties, and their essential mechanisms of action. [Pg.45]

Vn.l. This appendix offers general advice on the demonstration of compliance with the requirements for packages containing fissile material set forth in paras 671 to 682 of the Regulations. Performance and documentation of a thorough criticality safety assessment provides the demonstration of compliance called for in these paragraphs. The documentation of the criticality safety assessment included in a Safety Assessment Report (SAR) is an essential part of the application for approval to the competent authority. This criticality safety assessment should be performed by the application of suitable quality assurance procedures at aU stages as prescribed in para. 813. [Pg.347]

It is recommended that only knowledgeable persons familiar with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations perform the actual disposal procedure. [Pg.194]

Driver selection is a critical component of the motor fleet safety program. The company wants to make sure that it obtains qualified and safety conscious drivers. A good driver must be able to avoid accidents, follow traffic regulations, perform pre- and posttrip inspections, avoid abrupt starts and stops, avoid schedule delays, avoid irritating the public, perform the nondriving parts of the job, get along with others, and adapt to meet existing conditions. [Pg.168]

Checking of NDT devices is mandatory and is strictly regulated. Checking is performed and supervised by National metrological service. The term calibration is rather new in our practice. The works on calibration of NDT equipment are presented in the block-scheme 2. [Pg.964]

The s)mthesis of zeolites is traditionally performed by crystallisation from a sol-gel mixture comprising reagents such as silica, sodium aluminate, sodium hydroxide and water. Another key component of the sol-gel mixture is a base whose main role is to regulate the pH of the mixture. If an organic base is used then a templating effect may also be observed... [Pg.709]

Anionic and nonionic polyacrylamides effectively remove suspended soHds such as silt and clay from potable water. SuppHers provide special grades which meet EPA/FDA regulations for residual acrylamides. A recent pubHcation (102) states that hydrolyzed polyacrylamides with narrow interchain charge distributions provide better performance in flocculation of clay. These polymers were prepared by alkaline hydrolysis. (See Flocculating agents.)... [Pg.143]

Flammability. The results of small-scale laboratory tests of plastic foams have been recognized as not predictive of their tme behavior in other fire situations (205). Work aimed at developing tests to evaluate the performance of plastic foams in actual fire situations continues. All plastic foams are combustible, some burning more readily than others when exposed to fire. Some additives (131,135), when added in small quantities to the polymer, markedly improve the behavior of the foam in the presence of small fire sources. Plastic foams must be used properly following the manufacturers recommendations and any appHcable regulations. [Pg.415]

Vehicle manufacturers must build cars and tmcks that operate well on available fuels. They also specify the fuel requirements of their vehicles. Euel marketers must produce fuels that operate in both new and old vehicles. The consumer, the purchaser of the fuel and the vehicle, wants the fuel to be affordable, readily available, and able to provide a high level of performance. Regulators check that fuels are labeled properly and meaninghilly and that no unwarranted claims are made. They also regulate emissions from vehicles as well as the fuels used. [Pg.178]

RCRA incinerator regulations include adrninistrative as weU as performance standards. Administrative standards include procedures for waste analysis, inspection of equipment, monitoring, and facihty security. Steps needed to meet adrninistrative standards are outlined ia the permit apphcation performance standards are demonstrated during a trial bum. Trial bum operating conditions are included in the permit to assure ongoing compliance with the performance standards. Performance standards include destmction and removal efficiency (DRE), particulate emissions limits, products of incomplete combustion emission limits, metal emission limits, and HCl and Cl emission limits (see Exhaust CONTROL, INDUSTRIAL). [Pg.44]

Other regulations apply in different offshore drilling areas in the United States and around the world. AH have had a profound effect on drilling fluid technology (169,170). Very few instances of water-base muds failing the mysid bioassay test exist in the 1990s. Operators and service companies have eliminated use of the mote toxic additives, reformulated old mud systems, and developed new ones to ensure acceptable environmental performance based on pertinent regulations. [Pg.184]
