A designed or active experiment is based on using general methodological concepts such as regression and correlation analysis, analysis of variance, randomization, optimal use of factor space, successive experimenting, replication, compactness of information, statistical estimates, etc. [Pg.160]

The computational procedures required for most multiple regression and correlation analyses are difficult, and demand computer capability to perform the necessary operation. A computer program for multiple regression and correlation analysis will typically include an analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the regression (Table 2.3). [Pg.19]

A computerized statistical method that calculates cunent/potential as functional correlation of duration based on measurement data for CP system is introduced. The method uses the regression and correlation analysis of measurements of current and potentials of the piping network in desert environment. This approach ensures during the time installation of more CP capacity with distributed anodes around the piping network and examination of the protection potentials without need for new expensive measurements. This procedure is recommended for the improvement of the existing and new CP system. [Pg.60]

Based on this approach, developed program determines the relationship between two or more variables from a group of known values from such variables using regression and correlation analysis. The main objective of the program is, with a set of data and based in a curve as a model, to use the regression analysis to obtain the coefficients of the curve to fit the best correlation (minimal standard deviation) between the mathematical model and the set of known data. [Pg.60]

To summarize, when one wishes to evaluate the relationship between two variables, one of which is fixed (the independent variable) and one which is allowed to vary (the dependent variable), the analysis is termed a regression problem. A special type of regression problem is called calibration. In the calibration problem, one wishes to predict (future) values of the independent variable for given values of the independent variable. If, on the other hand, both variables are measured with error, correlation analysis and error in variables analyses are two approaches which one can use in the evaluation of the data. More extensive details of regression and correlation analysis are found in the references cited at the end of this paper. The calibration problem is discussed in 2, 8, 9 and 10. [Pg.402]
