REFUSE BAG

At NSF, a great deal of work is done on the development and implementation of NSF standards and criteria for health-related equipment. The majority of NSF standards relate to water treatment and purification equipment, products for swimming pool applications, plastic pipe for potable water as well as drain, waste, and vent (DWV) uses, plumbing components for mobil homes and recreational vehicles, laboratory furniture, hospital cabinets, polyethylene refuse bags and containers, aerobic waste treatment plants, and other products related to environmental quality. 

Bags and sacks is one of the most important market sectors for Ecoflex. It can be used in the manufacture of fresh fruit and vegetable bags, refuse bags and carrier bags, using either Ecoflex on its own, or an Ecoflex/starch blend.

LDPE is widely used in applications requiring clarity and ease of processing. Its most common use is as film (73%) for sacks, shrink wrap, stretch wrap, and refuse bags. LDPE is the predominant material for telecommunications cables and forms a water vapour resistant seal in the lamination of co-extruded multilayer films. When recycled, LDPE can be used to make most of the products made from virgin LDPE (except for packaging). 

In 1992, about 15% (386000 mt) of the post consumer waste in the USA consisted of degradable plastics , including retail bags, refuse bags, agricultural mulch, beverage containers and disposable polystyrene products.
