A number of researchers have ttied to tackle catalyst removal/recovery/recycling issues by using systems in which the palladium has been embedded on a solid support. Perhaps the most encouraging example in terms of activation of aryl chlorides is Choudary s heterogeneous layered double hydroxide supported nanopalladium catalyst. This material promotes the coupling of aryl chlorides to phenylacetylene in yields ranging from 60 to 95%. [Pg.5646]

The rational design of the catalyst may also address, in addition to performance optimization, recyclability issues. For this reason the fiuorous pyrrolidine sulfonamide 8 was investigated. The hydrophobicity imparted by the fiuorous chain makes 8 an ideal catalyst for heterogeneous aqueous protocols (Scheme 1.4). Both aldehydes and ketones serve as donor units. The catalyst is separated by treating the crude reaction mixture with fiuorous silica gel all the... [Pg.12]

This chapter provides a review of life-cycle issues that are likely to be important for lead-acid battery production and recycling. Issues specific to VRLA technology are noted, as are generic considerations associated with other lead-acid battery... [Pg.513]

This chapter contains information about safe processing of fluoropolymers and safe handling of parts made from these plastics. The material in this chapter is in no way intended as a replacement for the specific information and data supplied by the manufacturers of fluoropolymer resins and parts. A source of information that is frequently referenced in this chapter is The Guide to Safe Handling of Fluoropolymers Resins, published by The Society of Plastics Industry, Inc. Disposal and recycling issues are also reviewed. [Pg.385]

One recycling issue that is important throughout the developed world is what to do with the approximately 300 million TVs and computer monitors that are thrown out each year. The European Union Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive have banned them from being dumped in landfills because the screens contain PbO added to shield against the X-ray radiation released by the high anode voltage. Table 37.9 shows typical compositions of cathode ray tube (CRT) glasses. [Pg.684]

The hot runner sprue is preferred in high-performance molds due to on-line recycling issues (sprueless injection molding). If this method is not applicable due to the related costs, three-plate mold is the most cost-efficient solution. The sprue picking out of the second mold plate is usually problem free. [Pg.92]
