Questioning styles

There are different styles of questioning and different question types that may be used to elicit a response, but what is a question By definition it is a request for information. The amount and quality of information received may well be affected by the questioning style. 

The possibilities for good storytelling are endless. The trick is to know your experiences, skills, and personal qualities so well that you can adapt them to almost any question or questioning style. 

Answering these questions requires having a clear idea of what role you want serrior management to play and being able to articulate very specific recommendations for their participation. As discussed in previous sections, the role of serrior management in implementing PSM may vary company to company, reflecting differences in style and structure. 

Keep your material interesting. In any broad communication material a questions-and-answer format, or an Interview with the Chairman (or other senior sponsor) can help present information and messages in a conversational manner that many readers find more interesting than a more static narrative. A sample interview-style article is given at the end of this chapter. 

In the United States, advocates for bicycling arc divided on the question of special facilities. It is doubtful that Dutch-style facilities would create much greater ridership in most U.S. locales, because the trip distances are too long. According to the situation and the learning styles of fhe mentee, it may be appropriate to present these models in verbal or visual form - or the mentor may not present them at all, and simply use them as the framework for asking probing questions. 

Now that we are close to appreciating what constitutes an ELN system, the natural questions that a scientist might ask are What can an ELN system do for me How does it improve my work Can it be modified to accommodate my style and needs in recording data Can it record any and all data that 1 have And, importantly, can it protect my intellectual property ... 

In this chapter, we will introduce a bioinspired approach to biomineralization. First, a fundamental concept of the bioinspired approach is compared with the biomimetic approach. The Introduction should include a concise and critical summary of the available procedures for synthesis of the product in question. It should also include an estimate of the time required for the synthesis, an indication of the importance and utility of the product, and... 

Besides the intake interview, which can help gather information, there are a number of assessment measures for determining the quality of an important interpersonal relationship. The questions on these measures generally ask about things like communication styles, satisfaction in the relationship, joint decision making, and in some cases, abusive behavior. Two of the most well-known measures are the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Spanier, 1976) and the Marital Satisfaction Inventory (Snyder, 1979). Therapists and counselors also may choose to interview couples together (with the consent of client and partner), and some therapists may recommend couples therapy (see Chapter 5) as part of the overall approach to treatment if deemed appropriate to help the client. Relationship assessments can yield important information that may be useful when working with couples. 

Fundamentals of Electroanalytical Chemistry, by Paul Monk, Wiley, Chichester, 2002, is intended to be an easy read. It was written for those learning at a distance. Its style is non-mathematical, and involves a series of discussion questions . It s also packed full of worked examples and self-assessment questions. 

Describe, for the tenth time, an instrument not covered in the laboratory book, and you write a procedure. Explain, again and again, operations that are in the book, and you get a set of notes. When these produce questions you revise until the students, not you, finally have it right. It you believe that writing is solidified speech—with the same pauses, the same cadences—then a style is set. And if you can still laugh, you write this book. 

Exposure Assessment. What is the dose or the level of exposure of humans to the chemical agent This question must be asked in the context of a given policy for controlling the uses and dissemination into the environment of a chemical agent. This control policy might be the present situation, a possible new regulatory policy, or a policy that a chemical manufacturer or distributor could choose to impose on his product. It Is usually appropriate to assess the exposure of specific groups of people, Which may depend on occupation, life style, purchases and uses of certain products, etc. 

The connection of the Soviet avant-garde with European object art today also implicitly poses the question as to which fragments of the constructive tradition in the West might also be part of this project. If we look at Kosmatschof s sculptures of the past years, we can, in fact, see connections which show that his oeuvre is also rooted in non-Soviet discourse. From the monumental steel object Konstrukta , which Kosmatschof built in Aschchabad in Turkmenistan in 1974/1975, to the designs and realized projects of today, which are presented in this publication, there has been a line of development that has brought several shifts in style as well as in content.
