The large and widespread production of plutonium in nuclear power stations combined with its high radiotoxicity has caused great public concern about "plutonium poisoning". Consequently, the spread of plutonium in the environment has been extensively studied for several decades. ACS MONOGRAPH Series was started by arrangement with the interallied Conference of Pure and Applied Chemistry, which met in London and Brussels in July 1919, when the American Chemical Society undertook the production and publication of Scientific and Technological Monographs on chemical subjects. At the same time it was agreed that the National Research Council, in cooperation with the American Chemical Society and the American Physical Society, should undertake the production and publication of Critical Tables of Chemical and Physical Constants. The American Chemical Society and the National Research Council mutually agreed to care for these two fields of chemical progress... 

As a result, the present is a culmination of three periods, representing the most fascinating and productive time in the history of natural gas hydrates. During the first century after their discovery, the number of hydrate publications totaled approximately 40 in modern times, the number of hydrate publications, both in the technical and in the popular press, has increased dramatically with over 400 publications in 2005 alone. The semilogarithmic plot of Figure 1.1 illustrates the exponential growth in the number of hydrate-related publications in the twentieth century. Table 1.1 lists reviews, chapters, and monographs on the subject of hydrates. 

The labeling section of the monograph specifies what must be placed on a product label dose, directions for use, warnings, and all other information deemed essential for safe use by the general public. These labeling provisions must be combined with those label requirements already specified under general provisions. ... 

In addition to the nonmonograph for camphorated oil, and for aphrodisiacs as noted above, the FDA has published a nonmonograph for hair restorers. No OTC product may be offered for reversal of androgenetic baldness. Just as the monograph specifies what products may be offered for OTC sale, the nonmonograph clearly defines what products may not be offered and what claims may not be made. Again, preliminary publication of a nonmonograph is subject to review and appeal in the same manner that a preliminary notice is. 

This landmark publication was the first of a flurry of research papers on the linkage between the inheritance of genetic factors and the production of the pigments, the antho-cyanins. The first authoritative monographs related to wound dressing materials appeared in early London and Edinburgh hospital dispensatories and later in the British Pharmaceutical Codices. The development of wound management products can be traced by examining these Codices together with the British Pharmacopoeia. The information is reflected in similar publications in the United States Pharmacopoeia and other national standards. 

The USP was established in 1820 to provide public standards for therapeutic products, names, and recipes for their preparation. In 1880, the USP shifted from being simply a recipe book to one that contained medication standards for purity, quality, and potency. The USP standard monographs are published in the USP and National Formulary (NF), the latter containing pharmacopeial information for thousands of drugs and excipients. ...
