Another example is the strange nose in a circulating fluidized boiler. As we know, the circulating coal ash usually feeds into a boiler from one side of the bed wall, which easily results in annular flow and decreases the burning efficiency. Thus a protruding object like a nose is set at the other side in order to prevent the nonuniform flow. 

Any finite-sized probe must cause an apparent increase in size of small protruding objects and an associated apparent reduction in size of pits. 

My dealings with Pete, Pete s supervisors, his brothers, and other members of management became more frequent. Floor or surface conditions often contribute to workplace accidents. Surfaces shordd always be kept dry, free of debris, and free of defects, such as holes, loose boards, or protruding objects. Floor surfaces should allow for the free movement of trafl c and pedestrians and should not be overloaded with materials, people, or equipment. 

The intersection of a 4-D object with a 3-space does not need to be connected, just like a continuous coral formation can appear as multiple disjoint islands where they protrude above the oceans surface. Electron microscopy of negative-stained native LDL samples does not resolve the distribution of apoB 100 on the lipoprotein surface. Other unnecessary obstacles should be avoided as well, such as low-hanging signs, water fountains, desks, chairs, tables, etc., and similar devices which may protrude into a corridor, or even safety devices such as deluge showers with low hanging chains which could strike a person in the face in a partially dimmed or darkened corridor. The corridors must have a minimum of 80 inches of headroom. Door closers and stops caimot reduce this to less than 78 inches. Between the heights of 27 inches and 80 inches, objects cannot protrude into the corridor by more than 4 inches, approximately the length of a door knob. 

Placement is one control that may minimize physical damage. A house or other building placed very close to a railroad track is likely to get hit should a train derail at that location. Someone will likely hit a mailbox placed right next to the pavement of a road compared to one set back. Someone will probably ran into or trip over objects protruding into an aisle of a storage area. 

Inspection and maintenance can help remove tripping hazards. Remove protruding nails and screws or set them even with the floor surface. Repair damaged tiles, floor boards or carpet. Remove unnecessary mats, electrical cords or similar objects that extend across walking zones. If there are temporary electrical or communication cables across a walking zone, tape them to the floor. Use other protections to prevent tripping on them. Route them overhead if possible.
