Protein expression systems, rapid

Zhang, A., Gonzalez, S.M., Cantor, E.J., and Chong, S. (2001) Construction of a mini-intein fusion system to allow both direct monitoring of soluble protein expression and rapid purification of target proteins. Gene 275, 241-252. [Pg.1132]

Jebanathirajah, J. A. Andersen, S. Blagoev, B. Roepstorff, P. A rapid screening method to monitor expression of recombinant proteins from various prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems using matrix-assisted laser desorption ioniza-tion-time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Anal. Biochem. 2002, 305, 242-250. [Pg.151]

Fungi, both filamentons fnngi and yeast, are often the expression system of choice when a high yield of enkaryotic protein is desired. Fungi grow rapidly on cheap medium and gene... [Pg.293]

The Kaiko-bacuiovirus protein production system has many advantages, including high productivity, high reproducibility (stable expression), rapid production, and the capacity for simultaneous production of several proteins. Furthermore, this system can... [Pg.117]

A fully automated two-dimensional electrophoresis (2DE) system for rapid and reproducible protein analysis is described. 2DE that is a combination of isoelectric focusing (lEE) and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) is widely used for protein expression analysis. Here, all the operations are achieved in a shorter time and all the transferring procedures are performed automatically. The system completed the entire process within 1.5 h. A device configuration, operational procedure, and data analysis are described using this system. [Pg.155]

The principal advantage of COS cell transient cDNA expression systems is that they provide a rapid means for producing catalytically active protein. The introduction of the cDNA into the vector is simple, based on rapid bacteria-based molecular biology. The vector DNA is then used to directly transfect the host cells. COS cell expression suffers from limitations in expression level (which tends to be low) and overall yield, since a limited number of cells can be transfected and only about 10% of the cells take up the transfected vector molecule. The practical aspects of COS cell expression are discussed in Clarke and Waterman (1991). [Pg.191]

A major advancement derived from research into homo- versus heterodimerization specificity includes the use of de novo designed coiled coils for applications that require selective heterodimerization, such as was described by Tripet et al., 67 who developed a unique affinity matrix protein tag system as a rapid and sensitive method to detect, purify, and characterize newly expressed recombinant peptides and proteins from cell extracts. In... [Pg.73]
