Protective uniforms

To maintain a desired temperature in the process pipe, it may be necessary to use 1, 2, or 3 tracer tubes (small pipes) located symmetrically around the pipe and running parallel to the pipe however, at valves and fittings, the tracing needs to be so placed as to provide protection uniformly to the surface. Some designers recommend arranging the tracing in the lower half of the pipe. [Pg.239]

The United States developed a new generation of protective uniforms, which soldiers carried,... [Pg.103]

The basin A is then gently heated by a small Bunsen flame, which should be carefully protected from side draughts by screens, so that the material in A receives a steady uniform supply of heat. The material vaporises, and the vapour passes up through the holes into the cold funnel C. Here it cools and condenses as fine crystals on the upper surface of the paper B and on the walls of C. When almost the whole of the material in A has vaporised, the heating is stopped and the pure sublimed material collected. In using such an apparatus, it is clearly necessary to adjust the supply of heat so that the crude material in A is being steadily vaporised, while the funnel C does not become more than luke warm. [Pg.23]

When the adsorbent has been introduced into the tube, the latter is fitted into a filter flask (see Fig. 77, 46, 2) to which a pump is attached the pump is run slowly and the column is again pressed down gently with the wooden pestle. The circumference of the upper surface is gently and uniformly tapped, especially where it is in contact with the glass surface, for about one minute air bubbles and channels are thus avoided when the solution is poured in. Some workers place a loose plug of cotton wool or a circle of filter paper at the top of the column in order to protect the solid from disturbance when the liquid is introduced. [Pg.160]

Uses of gelatin are based on its combination of properties reversible gel-to-sol transition of aqueous solution viscosity of warm aqueous solutions abUity to act as a protective coUoid water permeabUity and insolubUity in cold water, but complete solubUity in hot water. It is also nutritious. These properties are utilized in the food, pharmaceutical, and photographic industries. In addition, gelatin forms strong, uniform, clear, moderately flexible coatings which readily sweU and absorb water and are ideal for the manufacture of photographic films and pharmaceutical capsules. [Pg.206]

Dielectric Film Deposition. Dielectric films are found in all VLSI circuits to provide insulation between conducting layers, as diffusion and ion implantation (qv) masks, for diffusion from doped oxides, to cap doped films to prevent outdiffusion, and for passivating devices as a measure of protection against external contamination, moisture, and scratches. Properties that define the nature and function of dielectric films are the dielectric constant, the process temperature, and specific fabrication characteristics such as step coverage, gap-filling capabihties, density stress, contamination, thickness uniformity, deposition rate, and moisture resistance (2). Several processes are used to deposit dielectric films including atmospheric pressure CVD (APCVD), low pressure CVD (LPCVD), or plasma-enhanced CVD (PECVD) (see Plasma technology). [Pg.347]

Because there is no "federal law of trade secrets," protection of trade secrets is often left to the variabHity of the criminal and civil laws of the 50 states. To the extent that a trade secret is property, violation, theft, or misappropriation of the trade secret may be the subject of criminal penalty. To the extent that a trade secret is bound to rights, violation or misappropriation of the trade secret may be the subject of civil penalty. Significant effort, however, has been made in developing a uniform body of law to apply to ideas and innovations which may be the subject of this form of protection. [Pg.39]

This provides a durable finish which, unlike many other flame retardants, can withstand repeated (50—100) launderiags without a loss of efficiency. An added advantage is that the feel of the cloth (hand) is Htde effected. Principal markets are ia the treatment of iadustrial protective clothing, military uniforms, and, ia Europe, for furnishings. These products are available from Albright Wilson Ltd. and Cytec Industries Inc. [Pg.319]
