The anti-inflammatory agent Oxapro2in, 2-(4,5-diphenyl-2-oxa2ole)propionic acid mono aluminum and dihydroxyalurninum salts, is made by reaction of the sodium salt with aluminum sulfate under controlled conditions (96). Again, the aluminum salts of many carboxylic acid based dmgs are less irritating, ulcerous, and/or toxic, and have a more pleasant taste than their parent acids. [Pg.144]

BODIPY 530/550 C3-SE is 4,4-difluoro-5,7-diphenyl-4-bora-3a,4a-diaza-S-indacene-3-propionic add, sucdnimidyl ester (Molecular Probes). Ethyl acetate and ethyl propionate in ethanolic sodium ethoxide with 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide and its riboside have provided a route to 2-methyl- and 2-ethyl-hypoxanthine arid corresponding 2-alkylinosines, respectively (67JOC3258,68JA2661). 2-Methylhypoxan-thine has also been prepared from the same imidazole and ethyl orthoacetate via an intermediate ethoxymethylene derivative which cyclized to the purine when heated (60JA3144).
