Project management organization

Product realization in the automotive industry is either called advanced product quality planning (APQP) or project management. In terms of their objectives there is no difference. In terms of the mechanics there may be some differences, depending on the methodologies employed by the organization. 

It is suggested that the project organization be described in the quality plan regardless of whether an APQP or project management approach is used. (See Part 2 Chapter 1 for a discussion on resource documentation.)... 

Use project management software to organize work schedules. 

R D management tends to be dominated by a project management paradigm, and most organizations develop systems based upon standard project management software, for example, Microsoft Project . This is very useful for project control, but of much less help in decision support. John Gittins claimed in 1997 [10] that very few pharmaceutical companies practice use of decision analysis in planning their work. Every time technology transitions, a different set of capabilities and limitations is offered. Eor instance, software may be available on one platform but not another. Each technology change requires careful planning and project management to ensure that there is no disruption to the organization and no loss of data. 

Once filed, an NDA undergoes several layers of review (Figure 4.12). A primary review panel generally consists of a chemist, microbiologist, pharmacologist, biostatistician, medical officer and biopharmaceutics scientist. Most hold PhDs in their relevant discipline. The team is organized by a project manager or consumer safety officer (CSO). The CSO initially forwards relevant portions of the NDA to the primary review panel member with the appropriate expertise. 

The presentation phase The VIP team formally presents the profitability recommendations consistent with the objectives and constraints of the workshop and their implementation plans to the steering committee or the project management team. The steering committee then approves those recommendations that pass muster and authorizes the project team to begin the implementation effort. Often, this approval is conditional on early validation by subject matter experts within the project owner s organization, but not present within the workshop. This external feasibility check is meant to provide support to the project team for any additional resources and schedule time needed to fully incorporate the improvements into the project scope of work.

The study design section should contain comprehensive information detailing trial size, criteria used to choose the study population, and enrolment procedures. Description of intervention section should give the background to the intervention itself, its therapeutic rationale and how it is to be administered. Measurement of response should detail the data to be collected, how it will be collected and analysed. The organization and administration section should give full details of all the investigators, where the trial is being run, and its project management details...

The soil contained 72,000 lb of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The total cost to complete the project was estimated to be 5.7 million. According to project managers, approximately two-thirds of the funds were allocated for capital costs (including chemicals and the injection process) and one-third for monitoring and support (D18766A, p. 3). 

Another cost estimate placed the total remediation costs at 253,000. This included 64,000 for planning, organization, project management, and remediation equipment 44,000 for field work 74,000 for laboratory analytical work 29,000 for drilling costs and 42,000 for activated carbon and regeneration (D22531A, p. 22).
