Project formal launch

When all the planning work has been done on the project it is time start work. It helps the Project team considerably if the project is formally launched. This can be done in a variety of ways but the essential element is that it be supported by the full weight of senior management. 

The importance of making staff aware that a project is underway, and that it is fully supported and being monitored by senior management should not be underestimated. The influence of a formal launch on the activities of both team members and other members of staff in the organisation is markedly positive. 

Communications have an important part to play in the successful implementation of a project. External communications have already been discussed as part of the formal launch of the project. It is a good idea to have similar communications at important milestones during the project s lifetime. Internal to the project team it is necessary to have progress reports for team members and the human resource responding to them. To be effective the reports must be concise, accurate, and produced at regular intervals, with just sufficient detail for them to be speedily read. Progress reports, as well as notes on meetings, will also be required for inclusion in Project Folders as a part of the quality procedures within the company. 

No risk management process and tool in place. However, after the introduction of each new product, the project team formally meets and reviews the process, learning, failures and successes, and document and stores them in a knowledge repository to be considered when launching other new products. 

Same as in level 4, but in addition when starting a new project, there is a formal review of knowledge and learning from previous similar product launched in the past to ensure that previous mistakes and problems do not happen again.
