Provide teachers with professional development opportunities to increase their awareness of social and emotional skills, coordinate health promotion and violence prevention efforts, identify at risk students at the pre-K level and intervene early, eliminate bullying and actively address victim and bystander behaviors, promote tolerance to diversity, be positive role models for students and solve problems non-violently and respectfully, integrate interpersonal violence prevention into subject areas, conduct workshops on emotional abuse, and evaluate strengths and hmitations of existing violence prevention as a springboard for planning. 

According to Holly (1991), collaboration is now seen as a major form of professional development. Indeed, this collaborative inquiry should be conducted by professionals acting as reflective practitioners (Schon, 1983). When teachers reflect critically on their experiences, they scrutinize them and improve their ability to teach and understand their students learning difficulties (Obaya, 2003). Van Zee (1998) discussed the meaning of the term teacher researcher , the rationale for preparing teachers to do research as they learn to do it, and suggested ways to educate teachers as researchers. 

Communications Training -- Training shall emphasize a disciplined formal approach to reactor operations and communications having the characteristics of inquisitiveness, attentiveness, preparedness, and accountability, described as the "new professionalism." In conducting communications training, it is recommended that role playing scenarios be developed to enhance realism. 

Although there is no substitute for individual action based on a firm philosophical and ethical foundation, designers have developed guidelines for professional conduct based on the experience of many of them who have had to wrestle with troublesome ethical questions and situations previously. These guidelines can be found in the published codes of ethics for designers and engineers of a number of industry and technical societies such as the Industrial Designer societies.
