Clearly the full potential of CIS PV devices has not been fully exploited, since the combination of group I-III-VI2 elements can result in a variety of end products. Therefore, standards need to be defined that can associate device processing, fabrication, and film composition to cell band gap and efficiency. Spray CVD in conjunction with SSP design provides a proof-of-concept for a reproducible highly manufacturable process. Items that need more investigation include (1) precursor design development of more volatile/thermally... [Pg.192]

There are a number of informative reviews on anodes for SOFCs [1-5], providing details on processing, fabrication, characterization, and electrochemical behavior of anode materials, especially the nickel-yttria stabilized zirconia (Ni-YSZ) cermet anodes. There are also several reviews dedicated to specific topics such as oxide anode materials [6], carbon-tolerant anode materials [7-9], sulfur-tolerant anode materials [10], and the redox cycling behavior of Ni-YSZ cermet anodes [11], In this chapter, we do not attempt to offer a comprehensive survey of the literature on SOFC anode research instead, we focus primarily on some critical issues in the preparation and testing of SOFC anodes, including the processing-property relationships that are well accepted in the SOFC community as well as some apparently contradictory observations reported in the literature. We will also briefly review some recent advancement in the development of alternative anode materials for improved tolerance to sulfur poisoning and carbon deposition. [Pg.74]

Our example uses the data from Bowman and Narayandas (2004). The customer firms are more than 300 industrial customers of firms that provide metal processing, fabrication, and distribution services. The customer firms are in industries that include manufacturing, construction, transportation, aerospace, and electrical. As a group, these customers use over sixty different vendors. A sponsoring vendor firm provided financial data and details of its efforts at the customer account level, enabling us to link vendor resource commitments to vendor performance and customer profitability. [Pg.199]

This burden can be considerable, as illustrated by the example given by Colborn et al (1996, p228) of the redesign of a line of upholstery fabric so that the manufacturing process and the final product were free of hazardous chemicals 7500 chemicals used to dye or process fabrics had to be surveyed. [Pg.172]

Commercially produced polyethylene and polypropylene have inherently limited stability to high temperatures and UV light and require stabilisation to survive the melt processing, fabrication and end-use conditions. [Pg.122]

Oxidative degradation of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) can occur at all stages of their lifecycle (polymerisation, storage, processing, fabrication and in-service). The auto-oxidation process of polyolefins is best described by the classical free-radical-initiated chain reaction outlined in Scheme 1 [1]. Impurities initially present in the polymers during polymerisation or melt processing, exert profound effects on the behaviour of the final polymer article in service. [Pg.122]

Heat resistance is the ability of a colorant to remain stable and unchanged during the heat of processing, fabrication, and life cycle of the product. Many color technologists, who should know better, discuss heat resistance of colorants by stating a temperature below which a colorant can be expected to perform satisfactorily. This is only half the issue. The time at the elevated temperature is critically involved. The correct way to state heat resistance is to give a time-temperature combination. To illustrate, the performance of a colorant could be entirely satisfactory at 90 seconds and 175°C (347°F) or 15 seconds 300°C (572°C) ... [Pg.87]

Woollen sliver and yam have been treated in low temperature plasma in a vacuum chamber for times from 20 to 30 min [61], There is a significant increase in the strength which lead to better stability of the material during subsequent processing. Fabrics made from treated wool do not felt and also the shrinkage is reduced e.g. from 37% to 3-5%. [Pg.410]
