Information on instruments preserved in collections, on ephemeral printed material connected with instruments and on the makers of instruments is not easily available. Before substantial studies on instruments can be undertaken, basic curatorial information needs to be available. Over the past few years there has been some progress in compiling material in all of these categories. [Pg.217]
