Press through packaging

Further, they can be used for medical purposes, such as press-through packages, disposable syringes, liquid medicine vials, and infusion bags. They are suitable for electric or electronic materials, such as wire coating. In addition, packaging films, such as wrapping films, stretch films, shrink films, and blister packs can be produced. [Pg.18]

They are then forced through a narrow die to form a hollow tube called a parison. A chilled mold is then clamped around the parison and inflated from the inside by air. The air pressure presses the parison against the mold, and it hardens in the shape of the mold. The mold then opens and ejects the HDPE bottle. The bottle is then trimmed and conveyed to the milk filling station. The waste plastic is ground for reuse. GHG emissions associated with the embodied energy of the packaging machinery may be calculated but typically fall near the 1% cutoff line and can be excluded (Cashman et ah, 2009). [Pg.60]

As a typical pattern of a multipurpose batch plant, the authors consider a plant with multiple floors that produces various products (e.g., fine chemicals or dyes) in batches and/or semicontinuously. Raw materials are entered into premixing devices and placed together in a reactor where the chemical reaction takes place. The resulting product is separated from the mother liquor by a filter press and then packaged in various types of packaging. The mother liquor is stored and eventually recycled. The same product may even take different paths through the plant by use of alternate devices or production lines. [Pg.266]

The cheese from each mini-vat provided 7 to 8 lbs of sample, and after pressing each lot was split before barrier-packaging under vacuum so that two ripening temperature regimes could be evaluated (i.e., continuous 10°C, and 21°C for 21 days followed by continuous 10°C, through 4 months). The Cheddar cheeses were typical in average moisture (37.5%), salt (1.7%), fat (31.5%), and pH (5.10) levels even though they were manufactured on a miniature scale compared to commercial-scale batch operations. [Pg.299]

At the end of the fermentation the yeast is separated from, the wort by use of centrifugal machines. In producing compressed yeast of about 75% moisture from separator yeast, square iron filter presses are used., Finally. the yeast is passed through cake cutting and wrapping machines. The ope pound package is largely used by commercial bakeries while the small cakes are sold for use in the home. [Pg.317]
