Iron filters

Manganese greensand requires the use of oxidizers to aid in the oxidation and removal of iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfite. Iron can be removed with the use of chlorine as the oxidizer. Manganese removal via [Pg.176]

Manganese greensand can become exhausted and therefore, require regeneration. Regeneration can be on a continuous or intermittent basis. For continuous regeneration without manganese present, iron can be removed with 1 ppm of chlorine per ppm of iron. For iron and manganese [Pg.177]

Iron and manganese can be removed from RO feed water using sodium softening or iron filters (see Chapters 8.1.6 and 8.1.5, respectively). In some cases, it may be desirable to operate with soluble iron and/or manganese through the RO system, if the entire system can be kept air tight to prevent oxidation of the metals into suspended solids. [Pg.130]

Others recommend treatment to remove the compound. Hydrogen sulfide can be removed or reduced from RO feed water using some iron filters (such as manganese greensand and Filox, see Chapter 8.1.5) or a complicated combination of oxidation, coagulation and filtration, sulfite addition, and rechlorination.9... [Pg.131]

Technical Observations. The procedure is different in large scale operations. As soon as the reaction is ended, the excess ammonia is blown out through a condensing system (water), and the autoclave contents, in which all of the nitroaniline remains dissolved at 150°, is put through a strong iron filter press. The nitroaniline is given no opportunity to crystallize out, but is poured directly into cold water, whereupon it crystallizes in finely divided form. This is highly desirable because it can then be diazotized smoothly in the cold. [Pg.314]

At the end of the fermentation the yeast is separated from, the wort by use of centrifugal machines. In producing compressed yeast of about 75% moisture from separator yeast, square iron filter presses are used., Finally. the yeast is passed through cake cutting and wrapping machines. The ope pound package is largely used by commercial bakeries while the small cakes are sold for use in the home. [Pg.317]

A powdered ammonium thiosulfate sample was given to a student as an unknown. The diffraction pattern was obtained using a camera with a radius of 57.3 mm and using a cobalt x-ray source with an iron filter. What would be the distances between corresponding arcs of the three strongest lines ... [Pg.417]
