Pregnancy, chemical agent

Teratogenic agents may be drugs taken during pregnancy radiation, both ionizing and nonionizing environmental pollutants chemical hazards in the workplace dietary deficiencies and natural contaminants. [Pg.237]

Provides reviewed and summarized information on the reproductive risk of hundreds of chemical substances. Includes coverage of industrial and environmental chemicals, drugs, nutritional agents, and radiation. Effects noted on fertility (male and female), pregnancy, development, and lactation. Produced by the Reproductive Toxicology Center (RTC) of the Columbia Hospital for Women, Washington, DC (available by direct access to the RTC). [Pg.1434]

Reprotox provides current assessments on potential harmful affects of environmental exposure to chemicals and physical agents on human pregnancy, reproduction, and development. This online source requires a subscription. [Pg.774]

The CTZ, located in the area postrema of the fourth ventricle of the brain, is a major chemosensory organ for emesis and is usually associated with chemically induced vomiting. Because of its location, blood-borne and cerebrospinal fluid toxins have easy access to the CTZ. Therefore cytotoxic agents stimnlate primarily this area rather than the cerebral cortex and visceral afferents. Similarly, pregnancy-associated vomiting probably occurs through stimulation of the CTZ. [Pg.666]
