Preform carriers

Dry impregnation, wet impregnation, successive impregnation, powder impregnation, preformed carrier impregnation... [Pg.7]

Various methods have been proposed for whole cell Immobilization Including adsorption and covalent attachment to a preformed carrier, crosslinking, flocculation, microencapsulation, and entrapment. Physical entrapment In a porous matrix Is by far the most flexible and most commonly used technique. Considering the fact that the polymer network has to be formed In the presence of the finally entrapped biological material, the performance criteria of chemical and physical nature are as follows ... [Pg.378]

Because of the very high supersaturation during the precipitation of most base metal hydroxides or carbonates, nucleation will be spontaneous, that is, homogeneous, which therefore explains why only limited deposition onto a preformed carrier occurs. Nucleation such as this by rapid mixing is generally much too fast for all the nuclei to diffuse into the pores and to deposit onto the internal surface of a preformed support. Therefore, significant amounts of precipitate may be formed separate from the support or on the external surface (Figure 7.2). [Pg.139]

For a more representative investigation, the authors synthesized a fragment of the acyl carrier protein (6S 74ACP) using preformed active esters in N,N-dimethyl-formamide [22]. Each coupling step required only 4 min of irradiation in a modified domestic oven with an average coupling yield of >99% (Scheme 7.2). [Pg.297]

A second process employing complex as the catalyst carrier was independently developed by the Standard Oil Co. (Indiana) and by The Texas Co. In this process (19,20), liquid butane containing make-up aluminum chloride and recycled hydrogen chloride is bubbled upward through a bed of preformed liquid complex about 20 feet in depth. Because the aluminum chloride in the feed is effectively transferred to the complex, catalyst carry-over in the reactor effluent is low and no recovery tower is needed. [Pg.115]

Two major strategies have been considered in order to obtain metallocorrolates the first one consists of the reaction of the preformed macrocycle with metal ions, while the second involves the oxidative, base induced cycliz-ation of the open-chain tetrapyrrolic precursor dihydrobilin (1,19-dideoxybiladiene-a,c) in buffered alcoholic solution in the presence of metal salts. By proper tuning of the experimental conditions (reaction time, solvent, metal carrier) several metal complexes have been obtained and characterized. [Pg.82]

Storage of norepinephrine in vesicles Dopamine is transported into synaptic vesicles by an amine transporter system that is also involved in the re-uptake of preformed norepinephrine. This carrier system is blocked by reserpine (see p. 78). Dopamine is hydroxylated to form norepinephrine by the enzyme, dopamine 3-hydroxylase. Synaptic vesicles contain dopamine or norepinephrine plus adenosine triphosphate and the 3-hydroxylase. Not all of the norepinephrine is packaged in vesicles some exists in a cytoplasmic pool that can be displaced. In the adrenal medulla, norepinephrine is methylated to yield epinephrine both are stored in chromaffin cells. On stimulation, the adrenal medulla releases about 85% epinephrine and 15% norepinephrine. [Pg.67]

Also used is the injection-compression cycle where after a preforming stroke for the cover stock, the carrier material is injected in a partially open mold (Chapter 4). By closing the gap the part is formed and laminated. The mold corresponds to a back injection mold. The method has similarities with melt flow compression molding. [Pg.511]

Injection Molten polymer flows into the injection cavity via the hot runner block, to produce the desired shape of the preform with a mandrel (the core pin) producing the inner diameter and the injection cavity the outer. After a set time the injection moulds and core pins part and the preform held in a neck carrier is rotated 90°. [Pg.28]

Once sensitivity has been established, that is, once hapten-specific IgE-producing B cells have been formed, exposure to even small amounts of hapten can induce a cascade of events that lead to immediate reactions, such as anaphylaxis (210). Briefly, preformed IgE antibodies to drug determinants recognize the hapten-carrier complex and fix to the surface of mast cells or basophils, triggering the release of a series of mediators, such as histamine, neutral proteases, biologically active arachidonic acid products, and cytokines. This ultimately leads to a clinical spectrum that ranges from a mUd local reaction to anaphylactic shock. [Pg.486]
