Precautions allergic reactions

A general description of the three major classes of MDI s and brief descriptions of adhesive applications are shown in Table 1. More recently, MDl has become the isocyanate of choice in adhesives, partly because MDI has a lower vapor pressure than TDI does (see pp. 296-297 in [18]). Isocyanates have been shown to cause an allergic reaction in a small percentage of the population. This reaction can manifest itself in the form of an asthmatic condition [19]. Before starting work with isocyanates, researchers are encouraged to read about the proper precautions to take, in order to work safely with these materials. Researchers should also check with their local health and environmental safety representatives [20]. 

Precautions Could cause allergic reaction in susceptible individuals. Believed to be beneficial and healing on external skin burns. 

Precautions Avoid when possible. Problems can range from allergic reactions to being carcinogenic (cancer causing). See individual coloring names.

Products and Uses Utilized in cosmetics and lotions as a thickener and stabilizer in makeup products. Precautions Can cause allergic reactions. 

Precautions Could cause allergic reactions on skin contact. 

Products and Uses Utilized as germicides and fungicides in fabric softeners and in mildew preventers. Precautions Could cause allergic reactions. 

Precautions FDA approves use in drugs and cosmetics except for use in eye area for eye makeup. Could cause an allergic reaction. 

Precautions A possible carcinogen (causes cancer). Could cause allergic reaction. FDA approves use at moderate levels to accomplish the desired results. 

Products and Uses An additive in varnishes and photocopy machine chemicals useful as a drier. Precautions Could cause allergic reaction to skin. 

Precautions Harmless when used for intended purposes. Frequently suspected of causing allergic reaction when the actual cause is the alloy metal such as nickel. 

Precautions Extracted from citrus fruit peel. Can cause allergic reaction. 

Precautions Moderately toxic irritant to skin, eyes, nose, and throat. It could cause an allergic reaction.
