Potential Market in Developing Countries

In order to define more clearly the potential markets, the developing countries were grouped according to some main characteristics which will also have a major influence on the assessment. The groups are as follows  [Pg.57]

The group comprises Argentina Brazil China India [Pg.57]

India has, of course, announced a major nuclear power programme with 12 reactor plants of the standardized 235 MW(e) type and 10 additional [Pg.57]

Iran has interrupted its nuclear power programme and it has been assumed that any reinstatement of it would primarily focus on completion of two 1300 MW(e) units. [Pg.60]

Table 2 shows the present status and potential development of organic food markets in Europe, Japan and the US. Organic food markets are still a small niche of the total food markets in developed countries, and although growth rates are expected to be 10 - 20 % in the medium term, the resulting market share will be not more than 4 - 5 %. [Pg.147]

Clobazam is not available in the USA but is marketed in most countries and is widely used in a variety of seizure types. It is a 1,5-benzodiazepine (other marketed benzodiazepines are 1,4-benzodiazepines) and reportedly has less sedative potential than benzodiazepines marketed in the USA. Whether the drug has significant clinical advantages is not clear. It has a half-life of 18 hours and is effective at dosages of 0.5-1 mg/kg/d. It does interact with some other antiseizure drugs and causes adverse effects typical of the benzodiazepines efficacy, in some patients, is limited by the development of tolerance. [Pg.525]

As with the review of agrochemical usage on crops, it is the developed world that consumes the majority of the pesticides produced. As these countries are the richest nations it is unlikely that this will change within the foreseeable future. This again means that agrochemical companies will target established markets in wealthy countries, but with an eye on the situation in large potential markets such as China (population 1200 million) and India (population 900 million). [Pg.11]

Frank Convery, B.Agr.Sc., M.Agr.Sc., M.S., Ph.D., is Heritage Trust Professor of Environmental Policy at University College Dublin. He is active on a number of EU-wide investigations and bodies. He has written extensively on resource and environmental economics issues with particular reference to agriculture, forestry, energy, minerals, land use, urbanisation, environment and development in developing countries. At present, his research relates to EU environmental policy with particular reference to the use, potential and effectiveness of market-based instruments. [Pg.373]

Despite the organic movement s professed interest in local consumption of organic products (see below), there are a number of countries where exports are and will be of great relevance. In developing countries, export markets are essential for income generation, especially where premium prices can be secured in developed coimtries and less so domestically. In other cases, such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, which have a high production potential and relatively low population density, domestic consinnption could not take up total production. For those countries export is essential, and the question, then, is how this can be acconunodated "... [Pg.215]
