Post effect controlling

For an effective control operation, the transducer with orthogonal coils has been coupled to a SFT 6000N control equipment, the results being sampled and quantized on 12 bits, stored and post-processed. [Pg.374]

While the development of flue gas clean-up processes has been progressing for many years, a satisfactory process is not yet available. Lime/limestone wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber is the most widely used process in the utility industry at present, owing to the fact that it is the most technically developed and generally the most economically attractive. In spite of this, it is expensive and accounts for about 25-35% of the capital and operating costs of a power plant. Techniques for the post combustion control of nitrogen oxides emissions have not been developed as extensively as those for control of sulfur dioxide emissions. Several approaches have been proposed. Among these, ammonia-based selective catalytic reduction (SCR) has received the most attention. But, SCR may not be suitable for U.S. coal-fired power plants because of reliability concerns and other unresolved technical issues (1). These include uncertain catalyst life, water disposal requirements, and the effects of ammonia by-products on plant components downstream from the reactor. The sensitivity of SCR processes to the cost of NH3 is also the subject of some concern. [Pg.164]

Uses selective pre-emergence and post-emergence herbicide to effectively control a wide variety of broadleaf weeds in corn, grain, sorghum, maize, rice, and soybeans. [Pg.296]

As mentioned earlier, P450 2C8 has reported to be phosphorylated in vivo [297], but the effect on catalytic activity is unknown. Post-transcriptional control of P450 2C8 by microRNAs 103 and 107 has been reported in human liver [642]. [Pg.572]

These soil concentrations indicated the potential for highly effective containment to result in higher post-fumigation concentrations in the root zone, which may result in more effective control with lower application rates, but may also result in air and groundwater contamination and crop phytoxicity. Destroying the residual fumigant in the soil decreases the threat of environmental contamination by these compounds and diminishes the potential for crop injury upon planting. [Pg.173]

As in the case of dust emissions (Section 3.4), some localized containment of fume may be effected by exhaust ventilation (LEV), although for vapours the control achieved is by dilution (Section 4). Additionally for vapours there is the problem of knowing where to implement controls when there is no visual evidence of emission. The insight gained by studies of emission processes remains fundamental to the practical and effective control of volatile pollutants by any means. Investigations into the quality and quantity of post-vulcanization vapours occupy one priority area of current research effort. [Pg.299]

This compound has antihistaminic activity and is usehil in the therapy of motion sickness. It may also be effective in the control of post-operative nausea and vomiting. It is classified as FDA Category B for Pregnancy, ie, no demonstrated risks shown in animal studies however, no controlled trials in pregnant women. Large doses may cause drowsiness and dry mouth owing to decreased secretion of saUva. [Pg.204]

Nuclear Applications. Powder metallurgy is used in the fabrication of fuel elements as well as control, shielding, moderator, and other components of nuclear-power reactors (63) (see Nuclearreactors). The materials for fuel, moderator, and control parts of a reactor are thermodynamically unstable if heated to melting temperatures. These same materials are stable under P/M process conditions. It is possible, for example, to incorporate uranium or ceramic compounds in a metallic matrix, or to produce parts that are similar in the size and shape desired without effecting drastic changes in either the stmcture or surface conditions. OnlyHttle post-sintering treatment is necessary. [Pg.192]
