Possible Future Work

Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, Immunotoxicity Testing Possible Future Work, ENV/MC/CHEM/TG(98)6, Paris, 1998. [Pg.33]

Recommendations The best up to date work on gas-liquid interface mass-transfer coefficients in a stirred three-phase column is by Joosten et al.51 For a three-phase fluidized bed, the data of Ostergaard and Fosbol, 03 Kito et al.,59 and Nishikawa et al.92 should be used wherever possible. Future work should include the derivation of a correlation for KLaL for the hydrocarbon systems. At present, the best available correlation for the gas-liquid interfacial area in a three-phase fluidized bed is that by Strumillo and Kudra [Eq. (9-44)]. [Pg.348]

The used 6 M HC1 can be used again and again for possible future work with galvanized steel. Store in a tightly capped bottled that is clearly labeled as 6 M HC1 for galvanized... [Pg.111]

It is worth mentioning that before the discovery of thio-arsenicals as urinary metabolites by Hansen et al. in 2004, several research groups reported the presence of reduced methylated arsenic species in urine (e.g.. Ref 236. The precise structure of these species in the samples was never firmly established, but it was considered to involve an As species. Recent work suggests that the chromatographic properties of these As species are well accommodated by thio-arsenicals (with As ). Possibly, future work will show that thio analogs of the many oxo-arsenicals adequately explain the properties of the arsenicals found in urine without invoking the unproven presence of As species. [Pg.642]

There are various improvements that can be made to the presented model, some improvements could be accomphshed. Foremost among these possible future-work directions is the inclusion of nonisothermal effects. Such effects as ohmic heating could be very important, especially with resistive membranes or under low-humidity conditions. Also, as mentioned, a consensus needs to be reached as to how to model in detail Schroder s paradox and the mode transition region experiments are currently underway to examine this effect. Further detail is also required for understanding the membrane in relation to its properties and role in the catalyst layers. This includes water transport into and out of the membrane, as well as water production and electrochemical reaction. The membrane model can also be adapted to multiple dimensions for use in full 2-D and 3-D models. Finally, the membrane model can be altered to allow for the study of membrane degradation, such as pinhole formation and related failure mechanisms due to membrane mechanical effects, as well as chemical attack due to peroxide formation and gas crossover. [Pg.192]

To date, the thermocapacitive flow sensor has only been demonstrated in the semiconductor field for measuring the gas flow rate. Many microfluidic chips and most BioMEMS chips work with a liquid medium. Possible future work includes applications of the thermocapacitive flow sensor in a liquid medium, where electrical insulation would be required. [Pg.3261]

Possible future work in RSDI wiU include suggestions for two composite indices one devoted for LDCs "Less Developed Countries" and a second one for DCs "Developed Countries" for which they have good and more data collection. For instance, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand have more through detailed data than other countries. Thus, RSDI can be expanded further and built on more detailed analysis for these countries. [Pg.88]

UTDefect can of course be improved in several ways. The user-friendliness can be increased and this is presently worked on in a project called SUNDT which will give pre- and postprocessors in Windows. Other possible future improvements include the addition of more... [Pg.160]

In the same period, James Prescott Joule, son of a Manchester brewery owner, had been carrying out a series of experiments to determine the relationship between work done and heat produced. In the wake of Michael Faraday s electrical researches, electromagnetic engines appeared as a possible future rival... [Pg.1136]

In this chapter we address several phenomena involving a solvent, principally water, and a stationary surface. These include various wetting and wall effects, chromatography, and membrane passage. Some of these phenomena have been modeled with cellular automata, and a brief description of those studies will be presented. Each of these examples opens up a wealth of possibilities for future work, and the reader is urged to pursue some studies that these may inspire. [Pg.87]

Over the past few years studies in this field of research have (perhaps rightly) been rather poorly correlated searches for phenomena which could often best serve as focus for seeking specific questions. Now some of these questions can be asked, and hopefully future work may be better coordinated. It is now possible to look for solutions to questions such as the following ... [Pg.248]

Periodically — weekly, if possible — review progress and project future work. Junior analysts will usually tolerate periods of overload as long as the periods are anticipated, finite, and clearly related to defined project goals. Recognition of extra effort through thanks may be sufficient if the periods of overtime are brief. If sustained periods of overtime are required, compensatory leave or financial compensation are essential to maintain good will and limit turnover. [Pg.39]

The data presented here has provided a chronological picture of the evolution and current state of the possible positive or negative association of some methylxanthine-containing products and various types of cancer. Perhaps the best conclusion at this time is an extension to tea and other methylxanthine-containing products of the statement by Stavric" who in 1990 wrote that certain controversial issues about the effect of coffee on human health remains unresolved. Future work should focus on types and methods of preparation of teas, roasting and preparation methods for coffees, and consider the whole beverage rather than caffeine or other methylxanthine per se. Meanwhile it appears that both tea and coffee and... [Pg.342]

Polybasic carboxylic hydroxy and amino acid aided synthetic routes directed towards obtaining mixed inorganic materials, especially for battery and fuel cell applications, are overviewed. It has been shown that, in spite of enormous number of papers on the subject, significant efforts should be undertaken in order to understand the basic principles of these routes. Possible influence of the structure of reactants employed in the process (acids, poly hydroxy alcohols, metal salts) is put forward, and some directions of future work in the field are outlined. [Pg.500]

Alternative cathode catalysts to platinum have been the focus of many researchers over the past four decades. Numerous reviews have been published on various aspects and types of PEM fuel cell cathode catalysts.2,7-21 In this work we review the major classes of non-noble metal ORR catalysts in acidic electrolytes. The techniques used to study the catalysts, a brief history of catalyst development including major breakthroughs, and possible future directions will be discussed. [Pg.338]

Experiments with crossed molecular beams might entail a beam of ferrocene molecules against a beam of chloride ions in the close outer-sphere electron transfer in the gas phase. This should be a very similar process to what we have seen in solution. I d just like to leave the thought that these are two possible directions in which future work will go. [Pg.330]
