Polyvinyl fluoride film

PVF films exhibit high dielectric constant and a high dielectric strength.96 Typical electrical properties for standard polyvinyl fluoride films are shown along with its physical properties in Table 3.11. [Pg.52]

Because the glass-to-EVA interface bonding problem seemed to be solved when all samples exhibited adherent and persistent bonds, the focus of the effort was shifted to back-sheet adhesion. An additional series of test (see Table II) confirmed the good results of Tedlar with the Du Pont adhesive 68040. Korad 63000 may be a useful material, but cure temperatures during lamination caused some degradation. Additional tests on this acrylic sheet may be run. A polyester film, Scotchpar 20CP, was interesting, because it would be less expensive than a polyvinyl fluoride film, such as Tedlar. This test series showed that a new primer or adhesive was needed for the Scotchpar film. [Pg.412]

The only known commercial producer of polyvinyl fluoride is DuPont Company. Tedlar is DuPont s trademark for oriented and unoriented films and three grades of PVF resin for special coatings applications. PVF films are tough, durable, preformed polyvinyl fluoride films that are manufactured in continuous rolls. PVF films can be oriented or nonoriented. Film thickness can range from 12.5 to 75 pm and can be treated for adherability or left untreated for release applications. [Pg.124]

In practice, an attempt is made to equalize the properties of the PVF films in the machine and transverse directions. The excellent properties of the films have spurred the use of polyvinyl fluoride films in numerous outdoor and indoor applications where mechanical strength is important in addition to chemical resistance, durability, and continuous-use temperature range. [Pg.234]

Vinyl fluoride is the monomer used to produce polyvinyl fluoride film for outdoor applications. [Pg.529]

Tables 1.3—1.5 show (he result of analyses of several bonds between a substrate and a polyvinyl fluoride film using an acrylic adhesive. All surfaces were analyzed by electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA). ESCA yields chemical analysis of organic surfaces in atomic percentage, with the exclusion of hydrogen, which is undetectable by this technique. To determine the type of bond failure, ESCA results for die failed surfaces are compared with those of the adhesive and the poljrvinyl fluoride film.
