By the process shown in Reaction 17, block copolymers have been constructed with hard blocks derived from polysulfones, polycarbonates, poly(BPA-terephthalates), etc. [Pg.193]

The next two decades saw the development of new polymers such as thermoplastic PU (1961), aromatic polyamides, polyimides (1962) polyaminimides (1965), thermoplastic elastomers (styrene-butadiene block copolymers in 1965), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, ionomers (1964), polysulfone (1965), phenoxy resins, polyphenylene oxide, thermoplastic elastomers based on copolyesters, poly butyl terephthalate (1971) and polyarylates (1974). [Pg.16]

POLY(ARYL ETHER)-POLY(ARYLATE) BLOCK COPOLYMERS I POLYSULFONE-BIS-A TEREPHTHALATE SYSTEMS... [Pg.959]

Bosnyak, et (3) have prepared copolymers of poly(bisphenol-A-terephthalate) and bisphenol-A-poly-carbonate. These randomly coupled block or segmented copolymers are shown schematically in Equation 1. These materials deformed uniformly in tension, in contrast to homo-bisphenol-A polycarbonate where necking is observed (3). Block copolymers of bisphenol-A polycarbonates and bisphenol-A polysulfone have been investigated by McGrath, et al. (4,5,12). [Pg.959]

The copolymers listed in Tables 1 and 2 comprise two series. In the first series (Table 1), a polysulfone oligomer of 6,000 g/mole was utilized. The sulfone-ester composition was held constant at 50-50 weight ratios while the composition of the polyester block itself was varied from 100% isophthalate to 100% terephthalate. At the extremes of composition (Samples I-l, 1-2, 1-7), the... [Pg.967]

Blocks 2 can be poly(oxytetramethylene), a semifluorinated polyester, poly-[(ethylene terephthalate)-co-oxybenzoate], a polyesterimide and a poly(ethylene terephthalate)-co-polyesterimide. The structure of the copolymer polysulfone- -polyoxytetramethylene is given as an example in Scheme 6. [Pg.37]
