Polyethylene based copolyesters

Interlinking hydroxy-terminated, low molecular weight polyesters with polyethylene glycol using dicarboxylic acid anhydride and a carbodiimide. Almost all of the solid PEG-based copolyesters were developed for use as carriers for the controlled release of bioachve agents. [Pg.51]

The adhesive coating materials, applied to the base cloth to form the fusible interlining, are thermoplastic materials, which melt and flow in the fusing press and so form the bond between interlining and face fabric. The materials most commonly used as adhesives have already been described (under Hot melt adhesives), that is polyethylene, copolyamide, copolyester, plasticized PVC, cellulose acetate and polyvinyl acetate. [Pg.37]

Among the many different classes of thermotropic polymers, only a limited number of polyesters based on aromatic ester type mesogenic units have been studied by rheological methods, beginning with the publication by Jackson and Kuhfuss of their work on the p-oxybenzoate modified polyethylene terephthalate, PET, copolymers. They prepared a series of copolyesters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid, HBA, and PET and measured the apparent melt viscosity of the copolymers as a function of their composition by use of a capillary rheometer. On inclusion of low levels of HBA into PET, the melt viscosity increased because of partial replacement of the more... [Pg.140]

The results obtained in the field of thermoplastic starch in combination with polymers or copolymers of vinyl alcohol with aliphatic polyesters and copolyesters in terms of biodegradation kinetics, mechanical properties and reduced sensitivity to humidity make these materials ready for a real industrial development starting from film and foam applications. The present global market is around 12000 tons/year. Main producers are Novamont with Mater-Bi trade-mark, ENPAC and National Starch. The tensile properties of films made of two Novamont s Mater-Bi grades are reported in Table 3, in comparison to these of low density polyethylene (LDPE). Figs. 6-7 show applications of Mater-Bi starch-based materials now on the market. [Pg.112]

A wide range of resins used in medical devices were included in this study and are listed in Table 1. These included an ABS resin manufactured by BASE, a polycarbonate resin manufactured by Bayer Polymers, and a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin manufactured by Gyro. In addition, a series of medical polymers manufactured by Eastman Chemical Company were included in this study. These included a propionate cellulosic formulation, a copolyester/polycarbonate blend, a polyethylene terephthalate homopolymer (PET), and a series of Eastman Coplyesters. All four of the... [Pg.1889]
